What tells the slide to stop?

Iíve been having some intermittent issue with the kitchen slide in my BSS 3004. Sometimes it doesn't want to extend unless I first bring it in which it already is. Sometime it doesn't want to come in unless I press the out button. In either case there is a noise but not sure what is the source of the noise. Today, the slide was in, would not work but I hear same noise when I press either in or out but no movement. I go outside and push on the slide, and then it worked. SO I know there is something amiss, just not sure where to start looking.

Hi Tom,

I always thought the electric resistance controlled the motor.

Are all the slide gears etc....lubed?

There are different slide controllers- I have three slides & three different model's of controllers. You might benefit from a reprogram. It's certainly something you can easily do yourself. I needed to reprogram a controller after a slide motor replacement. I called Newmar, they gave me the instructions, and it might have taken 2 minutes. You put the controller in learn mode, run in in/out 3 times lingering on the button so the controller relearns where to stop. Again they are not all the same so go below & see what controller you have first.

I agree that reprogramming may be needed, sounds like the limits are not set correctly

Conversed with Newmar and they told me to boost the power to the motor in small increments. Will give it a shot.. Right now it’s working as expected - Just like going to the dr. You feel good that day...

That begs the question: how to boost the power in small increments?

An electric slide controller measures the amount of current the motor is using. When the slide hits the stop, the current increases and the controller shuts off.

There is a small potentiometer that you turn to adjust the current sensing level. The potentiometer has a very small range of turning so the increments are very small. So you turn the potentiometer a little and try the slide in and out. If you go too far, you can force the slide against the stop too much and damage something.

There usually is an arrow on the case around the potentiometer to indicate increase or decrease.

As follow up... The controller in use is an LMC30 Rev B and there are no adjusting pots of any kind. I have emailed Newmar for additional info/help. It works well for a while and then gets intermittent. I got on Newgle and there is a learning mode (L1) which is simple enough, and it says to use it when changing controllers. My question just what does the controller “learn” other than when to stop? Does it ALSO learn how much power is required to move the slide? Thanks for any input.

Don't know if my Fleetwood has the same controller, but I need to hold the rocker down until the slide stops, either in or out. It supposedly locks and shuts off by itself, THEN I let go of the switch. If you don't hold the switch until it stops on it's own, it will want you to finish that before it goes the other way. Perhaps you're letting go of the switch before it's fully in or out?

I hold it until in or out just as yours. When it works it works as expected. And it does allow one to stop it part way in or out and continue or change direction. It seems it may be a power issue but no none method to control the power level as there is on some controllers. I did the learn procedure and it is working at the moment.

Thanks for the input.

Looking back over your thread, your kitchen slide does it have one motor or two motors?
Search === https://www.google.com/search?q=cont...rums%2Ff103%2F
C controllers have a tab you remove to reset values for control. AS info in this thread the C Controllers are no longer used by Newmar.
Read the links recall on C controller.
