while servicing my 1996 mountain aire (gas) as i was greasing it and i noticed what looks like a brake master cylinder with a booster tank on the drivers side just behind the front bumper,, to the left or drivers side it has what appears as a brake line running through the firewall,, i checked it and it was low on brake fluid so i filled it but now i am wondering "What the heck is that thing?" the master cylinder is to the right of the left front tire so i no that is not it,, so what is it?

It could be a HYDRO Boost for your brakes or fluid tank for HWH jacks.

does the hydro system have two mastercylinders? the mastercylinder that is connected to the brake pedal but this mastercylinder is not connected to the brake pedal,, it has a hose coming out of the big booster tank and a small brakeline from the mastercylinder running past the engine,, maybe to the tag axle? i have not traced it all the way back but it is definately seperate from the breake pedal

I think I have been posting on wrong chassis your 96 must be a Ford chassis, here is a post on Hydro Boost Ford chassis the Ford manual would have information on this if you had the manual.
Its a aid for your braking system as its for your power steering system.
I had a hose over a chassis angle iron that shaft through and all fluid came out doing 60 mph took over 200 yards turning into rest area without the Hydro to get coach to stop and that was pushing hard on brake pedal.
