I will just drop this name for anyone interested in a great dealership and service dept.

We bought our coach from them and they are fair, give great service and has plenty of inventory to choose from. We have found them the best in service work but we have never been to the factory. We stopped at every Newmar dealership from Maine to Miami before we bought. Independence had the best to offer for us.

You can tell them that Linda and Peter Kendall recommended them to you. Our rep. was Justin and the service advisor is Andy.

You can't go wrong with this group. We stay in their parking area when we have to stay overnight for any service work. They give us a key to their gate and we always leave with a smile on our faces.

Good Luck

We deposited $105,000 on our coach, which was roughly fifteen percent.

Usually, when you buy 'off the rack' the deposit is ten percent, but we had some special requests, so we put down fifteen.

Thanks, for all your comments. I have found a couple of dealers willing to give me what I think is a reasonable deal. I have one more question about this process. What is a normal deposit when placing an order? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

We put $25k (about 5%) down on a factory order. Your Essex is probably going to be in the same ballpark.

When I went through this in August they wanted either 5 or 10% depending on the dealer.

I spoke with a dealer today that wanted 25% to close the deal and my "something isn't right" antenna went up. That's why I was asking. Thanks!

In Sept 07 we put $10K down on our factory order for a 08 model year coach with a $198K MSRP (about 5%).

25% seems a bit much, but with the credit crunch and the current state of the banking markets who knows what the "norm" is today!

Yeah, 25% seems a bit much just to get the order going. We put $10k down on a $275k MSRP coach when we ordered it back in February '08. As I recall, they asked for more, but did not hesitate when I offered $10k instead.

By all means, go with the $5K over invoice. I paid around $7K over invoice when I bought mine. This is the only way you know what the delaer is making. I don't play the percentage off of MSRP.

The dealer should show you the invoice. It is the only way I will deal with any vehicle.

$5,000 over the dealer's cost sounds fair to me also.

Keep in mind that with automobiles the dealer can have an additional 3% or so "holdback" below invoice, plus other incentives and rebates from time to time. Those do not show up on his factory invoice.

These rebates may not be as prevalent in the RV industry, but I'd want to offer $5,000 above invoice cost, net of any rebates, etc. if any that the dealer might get from the manufacturer.

Last year I also wanted to buy a new Dutch Aire and pay $5,000.00 over his cost. I went about it in the following way: I requested a sheet from Newmar that lists the standard features and base price and all available option with prices. Filled this out as I wanted. This gave me the MSRP. Then I made 5 copies. (I wanted all 5 dealers to have exact copies to compare apples to apples.) I sent these copies to 5 different dealers with the following letter. (excerpts of my letter): I am in busines also, and I understand that if I purchase a product and tie up my money I have to make a set amount of return on my money. But if all I have to do is make phone call and maybe never lay eyes on the customer or the product and invest nothing I do not have to make as much money....That said...I am looking for a dealer that would like to make $5,000.00 for making a phone call. Enclosed is the Newmar Sheet of what I want. I am sending this to 5 diffent dealers, and I am looking for price. If this is of interest to you please contact me with your cost, plus $5,000.00 for yourself. If this letter offends you simplity throw this letter away. end......out of 5 I sent out 3 responded and the 3 all were with-in $300.00 of each other.

Last night on TV, LaMesa RV (Phoenix, Tucson) stated that they are selling all 08 and 09 Newmar Motorhomes at 40% off.
