What's the latest with Newmar ?

Can someone give us an update on where Newmar is in the RV Industry? I hope they don't go under. It looks like Fleetwood could be next on the list of liquidated companies as well as Country Coach.

I was there in December and have some basic news.

Mahlon sold 2,700 acres this fall to invest further into the business. He was planning to sell all of his farm equipment in January to provide more cash liquidity. They had another round of layoffs just before the holidays and extended the Christmas break to save payroll.

All of that is what I consider the positive items. On the bad side, I heard that they only had 8 sales at the Louisville show. The show was reported to be miserable for everyone.

Based on conversations with many of the employees, Mahlon has been actively talking to everyone and stating that he is committed to the business. I believe that if Newmar does go under, it will be one hour before Mahlon goes under personally. The family is in this for the long haul.

I arrived at Newmar for service this week, and the production side is off but the service side is open Mon- Thur with Friday possible based on work load. There are a lot of coaches in the service facility but not all are being worked on, I suppose the units are here for repairs but the owners left them for service over the winter.
My service is proceeding slowly, and by not having been here before it appears the staff is not adequate as only one tech is assigned for multiple items.

JVR, when your coach enters thru the doors there will be any number of folks working on your coach. The person you see in early morning will go over things to do for day and what was done the previous day. You may even see a carpenter enter one morning and measure your kitchen counter and inform you he's replacing it because of a few hairline cracks in Corian. Happened on my 98 KS had to stay a couple more days.

Today, real progress was made 3 tech's working on it, and assuming next day air parts come in we may get 75% of what we planned to have accomplished during the week.
