When to buy?
For those of you full timers. When did you buy your coach (as in did you sell your home first, wait until you were closer to leaving, or buy when it was a good deal)?
We're a year out, but already looking. We have a Ventana, but want to upgrade and know what we need/want in a floor plan and are looking for used 2016 and up. I'm worried about buying too soon and having higher payments, but also worried that if we don't snag one when it's a good deal we'll miss out.
I'd love to hear your thoughts...I'm not sure how often rigs like the London Aire or Essex come up for sale.

Bought the MH in late Feb 2015, traded in our really great '02 DSDP on the Magna. DW died in Aug 2016. Now getting the house ready to sell or to travel for extended periods. Not sure which it'll be. I "retired" in 1998 but went back to work till the DW could retire, which never happened.

Easier to obtain a loan for coach (if required) prior to selling house. Mortgage companies want an address to reach and touch you. They don't like the mobility of their money. That being said, there are companies out there that will loan money but at a higher rate. JMHO

My thought is there are always good deals out there, don't be pressured to buy one before you are ready.

I think purchase while you still have somewhere else to sleep while getting it dialed in. To add to ewlee’s thoughts, while you own your s&b you will be tied to that states sales tax and DMV fees , if you wait you can establish a state like SD as home base, that is very RV friendly, if I could have done this I would have saved $35,000, but still working so it wasn’t in the cards.

Selling the S&B and buying a motorhome
We ordered our 2016 and then worked backwards from the delivery date to sell our stuff, establish residency in a new state, get the house ready to sell, etc.
As is turned out, we finalized our specials in January (at the Tampa RV show) and got our stuff sold over the next few months. Our house went on the market in late April and sold quickly. We closed on a Thursday, moved out on Friday, drove to the Newmar factory with our remaining possessions, and started our CPU on Monday. It all worked out great, but we were prepared to leave the house empty (and for sale) and start full-timing as soon as we picked up the motorhome.
The idea of having a S&B home during the first few weeks to get all the bugs worked out has some appeal, but we wanted to take full advantage of the 12 month warranty and start using the coach right away. Your proximity to Newmar and/or your local dealer would play into the decision of when to pull the trigger on full-timing.

Just a thought . . . if you sell your house first, then you NEED to buy, not usually the best way to get the best deal. If you start looking now, you have more time to find just the right one at just the right price.
