I live in New Jersey (about 10 minutes from Philadelphia) and would like to look at some Newmar coaches. I’m researching Newmar and Tiffin diesel pushers. I’ve been able to see a number of Tiffen models within less than 100 mile drive, but I’m having trouble finding Newmar’s to look at. The Newmar website lists no dealers in NJ. There are 2 in Pennsylvanian, but the first has no Newmar RV’s and the second only has one new model.
Any thoughts on where I could go to check out Newmar’s so I can compare them to the Tiffin models I’ve seen?
Ken
PS: A RV dealer told me this weekend that Newmar had gone into bankruptcy, is that true?

Hi Ken,
Welcome to iRV2. Newmar is not going out of business. Newmar is a family owned company. Stock is privately held by the Miller's and officers of the corporation. Newmar has no debt and borrows no $. Every coach they build is sold. They do not build spec coaches.
As to where to find a dealer, consider calling Newmar at 800-731-8300. Ask for the Marketing & Sales Department. Newmar dealers are not as as many other brands. My selling dealer is 110 miles from my house. In the fall and winter there are RV shows that Newmar attends. The Tampa RV Super Show is the largest. It is held in the middle of January each year.

It's a shame what dealers/salesmen will say about the competition.
There is a Newmar dealer in Smyrna DE.
The Hershey PA RV show in September is the next large RV show.

I had a feeling the salesmen wasn't being honest, or didn't know what he was talking about.
The problem with the dealer in Smyrna DE is that they don't have any Newmars in stock.

Newmar only builds when they have an order. There are no unsold rigs at the factory awaiting buyers.
Either a dealer has to order one for display or a customer has to order one built to his specs.
I believe floorplan financing is difficult for dealers in this economy, so display models may not be plentiful.
You could always take trip to FL to North Trail RV, a big Newmar dealer. Independence RV in FL is another big Newmar dealer.
Unfortunately, Newmar dealers are few in this area.

There's Beckley's RVs in Thurmont, MD where I bought mine. Ask for Mike Boerum.

Hi Ken,
Consider thinking about this a little differently. My first coach was in 1978. Since then my view has been any excuse for a trip and off we go. When searching for our present coach, we new our requirements. We searched the Internet for floor plans that met our requirements. Then it was off and driving. It's been 5 years, so from memory I'll bet we put on over 3K miles looking at what we felt met our needs based on the manufacturer's/dealer's web site. A call to the dealer to ensure they had the floor plan, in stock. We were only disappointed once. After confirming the coach was on the lot, we arrived two days later to find out it was sold. The salesman we had made the appointment with did not inform us of this! I guess he thought he might sell us another floor plan. Fortunately the trip was only about 200 miles (one way).
I guess what I am saying is start the RV lifestyle before you buy the coach. Don't look at traveling to a dealer as a negative. Enjoy the search, even if it means some travel.

To further amplify what has been said already, new Newmars on dealership lots are essentially owned by the dealership. Newmar has no "consignment" agreements with their dealerships like the other manufacturers do. In this tough economy new Newmars held by the dealerships will be few and far between. Best way to view them would be at an RV show. Another source would be at an FMCA Regional, or International Convention event, which IMO is the best place to shop for motorhomes. All the manufactures have a large selection of thier products available for viewing, and most importantly test driving, also they have factory representatives there to assist you. And they will be more than happy to assist you with a deal on the coach of your choice. You need not be a member of FMCA to gain access to convention site, general admission tickets are sold at International Conventions which give you access to the motorhome displays, not sure about regional conventions/rallies.

Welcome kwilkins to the Newmar forum and irv2.
As you have found out dealerships are a problem in the northeast area its been that way since the economic downturn.
As people have mention RV shows near your area may have some selection but couldn't guaranty that.
This LINK will get you to dealers and Newmars current models and some of existing dealers have build your own threads for pricing and options you may want.
Most dealers right now in south and mid-west so require some travel time but some of these dealers have some good pricing on their units so you may find some good deals in your hunt.

You might want to check out Steinbring Motorcoaches, Minnesota’s Newmar Dealer
in Garfield, MN. We bought our 2010 Allstar from Jon Steinbring and picked it up at his dealership. We live in San Antonio, TX. When we were there he had about 25 Newmar coaches in stock and he is a delight to deal with. Small dealer but he sells most of his coaches over the internet and people fly in to Minneapolis and are picked up at the airport to drive the 90 miles to Garfield. Jon and his family have been in the auto dealership business for 60 + years. He has been selling Newmars for about 7 or 8 years. We couldn't have been happier with dealing with him and his staff and service people.
