Where is my steps switch?

My Coach Step (SCS/Frigette) has stopped working. Trouble shooting guide indicates a faulty door switch but I can't find it. On my 2007 Kountry Star the screen door doesn't activate the step but the outside door has always worked before. This is embarrassing because I used to be an electronics tech. Can anyone provide me with some insight?

Have a nice day - Darrel

First you have checked the ground wire to frame of coach for a good clean tight connection. And you have batery feeding steps.
You door switch could be a plunger type mounted through frame of door casing or disk type magnets either on door or screen. Than there are the magnetic reed type that are glued to screen and door casing. They could be on hinge side of door frame.

If you have a magnetic switch, look on you lower door frame about 8 - 10 inches from the bottom, under the latch for a round black plastic disc about the size of a quarter, then on the moving portion of the door for a matching disc at about the same location. The magnet is in the swinging part of the door, the switch is in the door frame.

007: I already jumpered a second ground to try to eliminate the ground symptom with no success.
Spikester: My door frame has several round plastic circles all around the perimeter. I had assumed that they were just appearance covers for the mounting screws. Tommorrow I'll check that with a magnet.

Thanks for your aid - Darrel

Followup: Like Spikester said, the switch is concealed in the door jamb. Unfortunately my problem turned out to be a faulty controller. FYI when this happens you can jumper from the step +12v connecter and a ground to the motor connector and manually retract/extend the steps.

Have a nice day - Darrel
