Where to Eat in Nappanee
If you are planning a trip to "Camp Newmar" (Newmar Factory Service) this year, chances are you will be looking for a place to eat. This seems to be especially true of Breakfast, since your rig will be disappearing into the Newmar service shop around 6:00 AM.
There's plenty of good Amish - and other - food in the Nappanee area, but where to eat, and how to get there, are frequently-discussed topics among Camp Newmar residents.
So if you have a favorite restaurant or two in the area, or maybe one that is not so hot, please post your thoughts, so your fellow Newmar owners can benefit from your experience.

Borkholders Restaurant
This is a great place for Breakfast and Lunch, and it is probably the closest place to "Camp Newmar" to eat. From the Newmar Factory Service lot, turn left on Cheyenne Street and go to the second stop sign. Make a right turn, and the restaurant will be about .2 mi. on your left
Our experience, after several visits, is the food is good with ample portions and it is reasonably-priced. Borkholders opens at 6:00 AM and the early crowd is primarily Amish and Mennonite construction workers, fueling up for a day of work in the area. On occasion the Mayor of Nappanee has been known to hold an early morning staff meeting there, before he heads off to his day job as the town Mortition.
Lots of other good places to have Breakfast and Lunch in the area, but I'd recommend at least one stop at Borkholders.

Hi Jim,
Is the restaurant described in post #2 called The Dutch Kitchen? The directions provided are close to what I remember.
Remember, when you leave Camp Newmar you may or may not be a better person, but you will be a larger person.

Try to sleep with the trains. I hit the pizza hut both times I was there. I like to see all the horse carriages at the food store.

If you have wheels, can try the EssenHaus over in Middlebury.

I just like Essenhaus fried chicken a bit better!

One thing the Amish do not want you to go away hungry here is a list of good food locations plus many links to surrounding area.

one a little bit out of the way
If you have time, go to Shipsawanna to the flea market and on the way stop at the Hill Top Restaurant on 20. They're known for their potato salad and desserts, but after the portions you get, it's hard to save room for dessert
