Where to mount dash cam?

For those of you experienced dash cam users, What is the best location to mount a dash cam in the RV? Just got one and want to get it right the first time. Thanks!

Mine is in the center of the windshield just above the wipers.

My backup monitor hangs in the middle below the upper cabinets so I mounted to to that with double sided tape.

In general, out of your line of sight (not obstructing your view) and inside the sweep of the wipers so that it's looking through clear windshield while driving in rain.

I put mine in the upper corner on the drivers side. I didn't want it to be in my view. My camera has a wide view so in this position it sees both sides of the road, even on Interstates. It is by Rexing from Amazon, https://www.amazon.com/V1-Dashboard-.../dp/B00X528FNE.

Is that a 12v receptical up by the windshield? Wannabe here looking for specials ideas and I don’t recall that being standard issue.

Thanks, Dave

Mine is in the middle of the wind screen at bottom, I ran an 8ft sub cable back to the passenger side 12 volt socket (it's tidy enough).

Dave,

Yes it is a 12v receptacle that I had Newmar install as a special.

My thinking is the top of the windshield is best to ensure your camera is not blocked by the nose of the rv... and gives you the best range...
and then hope you NEVER need the footage !

Ours in the center top of the windshield. From the outside it isn't real obvious. From the inside, you can't see it as it is behind the cabinets. Wiring is wired into power on the back side of the cabinets.

On the advice of a LEO, if involved in a serious accident, I won't make mention of the dash cam AT THE TIME OF AN INCIDENT/ACCIDENT, at least until I have been able to make a copy. Later, my insurance company will get a copy of the file.

As he stated, sometime evidence gets "misplaced". He also stated that RV's that are involved in accidents often have accidents with local residents as opposed to an out of towner, sometimes in small towns where the occupant of the other vehicle may be known to the LEO . . . Did I mention he stated that evidence sometimes gets misplaced? Perhaps he was overly suspicious, but I don't see any harm done in not turning over the chip before I get a chance to make a copy. Let the flaming begin!

No flaming. I think what you suggested is well advised and within your rights.

Bottom center of my windshield. I power it up with an accessory cable hard wired into the ignition system. The wire runs from the circuit panel, up through the dash via a defrost vent.
As far as model, I was told to get one with a capacitor rather than a battery because of the heat from the sun in the summer.
Happy Glamping.
