Be sure to take the drive west (toad only) on 170 through BBRSP. Be sure to stop at Closed Canyon. It's a short easy walk. When I was a child on a fishing trip with my grandparents, they would take me there in the middle of the day for a picnic lunch and a nap, and to escape the heat of the day back at fish camp.

Also recommend a stop at the Twigh;ight Theatre in Terlingua, for dinner.

Thanks for sharing. I love to hear people's stories and yours is such a heartwarming memory. I did the drive through BBRSP yesterday as well as Ross Maxwell drive in BBNP. Didn't do any real hiking as it was 106 degrees. Lots of rattlesnakes. I saw my 1st jackrabbit. It was huge! Going to go to Starlight Theatre for brunch. They have entertainment because it's Mother's Day! [emoji2] Thanks again for the recommendations!!!!

It is usually very hot there in May, but 106 degrees is a little unusual even for them. Probably would have been 20 degrees cooler inside of Closed Canyon. Here are some photos I took in 2013.

Yachats is a quaint little town on the Oregon Coast about half way between Newport and Florence. Sea Perch RV Park is very small with just a few spots directly on the water. Been there several times and highly recommend it. Suggest you reserve in advance as it can be tough to get a spot...especially one of the front ocean sites.

Cool and a bit rainy but it’s fun to be out after a long winter. Slide left in for a quick getaway in the morning. Dakota Meadows RV Resort, Mystic Lake Casino, MN - near Minneapolis.

Looks like a beautiful area for our DS 4362 maiden voyage in a few weeks! Have never been there before. Will be a little west in Empire MI. Any 'must see' recommendations?
