Which Newmars have side radiator?
Currently own a 2004 Winnebago 36' DP with rear radiator and was wondering which Newmars I should/need to be looking at that would have a side radiator. At least the lowest price shortest length one, that is and a new 2012 also. Not interested in a used one. Sure don't want Newmar's top of the line which would be WAY out of my price range. Maybe I'm blowing in the wind to look for this.

I'd be looking at the Newmar website. Both our DSDP's have been side radiator.
Ventana and Ventana LE are rear radiator.
Dutch Star and up are side radiator

Thanks for that reply. Have been on the Newmar web site several times and was unable to find the radiator placement for all the coaches. Was pretty sure the Ventura LE had a rear radiator but didn't see anything about the Dutch Star. Have brochures coming from Newmar.

We originally thought we were going to buy a 2012 Ventana, signed a purchase order and made the deposit the weekend of the Hershey, Pa show. We asked for a week or so to make color choices. The following weekend we had the dealer work up a price on a DSDP 3734 and happily surprised that for not much more money we could DSDP with 400HP ISL engine, Independent Front Suspension, Side Radiator, nicer Captain and Co-Piloy Chair, additional roof insulation, all electric refrigerator, and the Oasis heat system. Moving to a DSDP also allowed us to add the optional Fiberglass roof that Newmar does not offer on the Ventana.

Have 02 DSDP Freightliner chassis and side radiator. Had one rear radiator that was enough for me, got sick of standing on my head.

They never actually say, you have to look at the pictures.

The Allstar's Mid Engine have a side radiator. Production stopped in 2009 on this model.
Why are you interested in a side radiator?

That's a plus! There's also the advantages of easier engine service access, cooler air supply, fan runs off of t-stat only when needed vs. always on driven by engine crankshaft which takes some HP.

The 2012 DSDP has side radiator 43'chassis.
If its a Freightliner chassis that may have the rear radiator on shorter chassis.

The first time I had to hang under the bed upside down to change fan belts and thermostats was enough to convince me on the side radiator. And now I'm told it will run $1,000-$2,000 just to change the fan hub bearing on the rear of the engine that is prone to going out anyway where from 15,000-70,000 miles, depending on whether or not the radiator and CAC has to be pulled to do it all from the rear of the coach. Then there's the radiator cleaning that must be done 2-3 times a year due to all the road crap and engine film the fan sucks up and into the radiator fins. Any one who has ever had a rear radiator coach and will be honest will surely admit a rear radiator is the pits.

Mike, I sent you a PM asking about your new DSDP. Considering it myself.

From what we saw looking at Newmars last summer, the Dutch Star and all models above the DS have Side Rads, The Venatana we;re rear Rads.
Like you Wagonmaster the side rad is one of the reasons we;re seriously considering the DS over the Winnebago Tour. That and the extra weight capacity of the front end of the coach too.
