Having owned more than one of each, I would take the fiberglass over the rubber any day.

Don't have to be as careful with it and is much easier to keep clean and reseal if you do have a problem.

Hi Bruexx,
Worry not. The roof is not rubber. Newmar hasn't used a rubber roof on the DS in many, many years. The roof is BriteTEK™. It is the same roof as on my 05 coach. This roof is one piece BriteTEK™. The roof is as tough as nails. My roof has been through hail storms and a tornado. Hail large enough to smash both heat pump covers. No problems at all. The bottom line if a coach came with a fiberglass roof, I'd take it. If it come with a BriteTEK™ roof I'd take it. I would not pay extra for a fiberglass roof. This would not even be on my list of things to worry about.

I clean the roof 2 times a year with 303. That is all the maintenance it needs.

Take a trip up to the factory and see how they build them. It's an eye opener. They are great what they do. Only thing is, I was never comfortable having something built with piece work pay until I watched them. They do it rite. I'm in the market for a new or slightly used Essex with a full slide(no dark cabinets or I would of had one last year. ) --ANYONE????

Our 03 KSCA had the BriteTek roof and we never had a problem with it. Now this signature coach has a fiberglass roof and I can't believe how much noiser it is. Ed

Agreed. Besides not leaking I'd take a fiberglass one piece painted with Imron or Awlgrip. Most are not painted which leads to the white gel coat oxidation streaking the sides of the coach.
