whirlpool extended warranty beware

maybe i am a little naive i sent in my paper work to register my whirlpool residential fridge as well as washer and dryer when we purchased our DSDP april of 16 . whirlpool sent me an acknowledgement also paper work to purchase an extended warranty for all 3 appliances. sent in paperwork as well as money for warranty.
now that i need to get an issue with my fridge addressed, i was informed whirlpool does not do extended warranty on rv's and or mobile homes. and there is a question if they would have honored the original warranty. i guess somewhere in the fine print is the disclaimer. so now i am waiting for my full refund. i will be talking to my dealer and newmar tomorrow. wanted everybody to know

Uh, yes that's the way it works with most appliance warranties. Check around with other appliance manufacturers I think you'll find the same thing.

We’re having an issue with our whirlpool washing machine and Newmar is having the whirlpool repairman come to our site in the RV park to fix it.

Just had RV mobile repair replace the computer board and door lock on mine. Was a treat to get done. You need to be somewhere about 2 weeks for this to happen. RV mobile has to remove it from the cabinet. Someone worthless comes and then orders parts, in my case someone worthless called and ordered parts and didn't show. RV mobile puts it back in. Whirlpool comes again and doesn't have parts. Then after you sort it all out someone finally comes to install parts and it works again.

It would have been cheaper for me to buy a new washer!

washer

I guess I got lucky. When I took my coach to the dealer for washer repair, they could not duplicate the door latch problem, twice. I called Whirlpool who said they no longer make the door switch and offered to replace the the washer with the newer model. It was not the easiest process but the swap was accomplished where I was parked. The new washer is larger so it it is a tight fit in the overflow pan it sits in. You also have to move the pan towards the back of the closet so the doors will close all the way. The installer, J B Hunt trucking company, will not remove or install the closet doors.

We had trouble with the door switch on our washer. Our Newmar Rep was going to coordinate the work on site in the state park campground. We decided we would rather have our dealer remove the washer for the repair as required by Whirlpool. We coordinated it with our dealer in Grand Rapids and the Newmar rep. The repair was completed in a morning as promised under warranty.

Rather leaves me wondering what kind of deal Whirlpool is cutting with the RV manufacturers.

Sorry you are having issues with your Whirlpool fridge. However, Whirlpool does in fact honor the one year manufacturer initial warranty. We have been in our new coach for just over 3 months. I know the young Whirlpool factory tech on a first name basis (Joe) because he has been to our coach for two appointments. I will be talking with him again tomorrow when I take the coach back to the dealer. The dealer is pulling the frig so Joe can show up and fix the rear drain which is faulty and plugged.

I took a 5 year extended warranty on my coach that covered everything except the engine/tranny. It was barely $3,000. I was getting $1,200 back from the same extended warranty company for the unused portion of my previous coverage on my previous coach so it seemed like a no brainer to me. If in the next 5 years one of my Whirlpool appliances need replaced then .....or, if in the next five years they all work perfectly as I full time (LOL)..

We were having problems with our Whirlpool washer also, lights would come on blinking but nothing worked. Finally after getting frustrated I punched the front by the control panel twice and it worked perfectly for a week. It stopped working again, with lights flashing and I used the same technique. Has worked just fine ever since. My conclusion is that it does not like being punched, you just have to remind it once in awhile.

The easy fix. Flat washers between the metal front white face and the lock/latch on the screws does the trick. No more slamming door.
