Hi Tetonchief,
No, you should be fine. Temps need to get to 29 degrees for 4 hours for exposed plumbing. This means temps need to get much colder for a longer time to hurt a Newmar coach.

That’s very interesting, Gary. Do we know what temp and time it would take to do damage?

Hi USMCRET,
The time and temp are it all depends. It depends on a bunch of things:
1. daytime temp
2. daytime sun
3. daytime wind
4. night time wind
5. compass direction of wind
6. direction of wind to the coach

Gut feel says one would need to be in the teens over night for several hours. The preceding and following day remain below freezing with no or little sun. This is for a coach with no heat on. With the coach heat on one is talking below zero.

Going back to food and drink for a moment. Try Goshen Brewing - very nice brewery with good locally sourced food. Also Miles Lab in Elkhart - started by descendants of Dr. Miles ( Alka Seltzer etc.) good selection of local brews and outstanding food .

Planning on a January trip to Camp Newmar for warranty, they agreed to fix the scratches on the top of the coach. What types of things did others find on warranty visits that also got fixed? Any aftermarket add ons or adjustments we may want to consider?

I'm not sure what you are asking for here.

They fix anything that is under warranty and not working correctly. They for the most part go way above what many other companies consider warranty. If you have a question as to operation of something ask and they will look into to it for you.

If you have something that is not correct they will fix it. Now here is the rub as in many other products. You may not like the manor in which an item functions pertaining to design. That is not warranty. Example on our 2015 DS the dash radio was a joke. The navigation system was a bigger joke. But one just had to live with it. There was no fix except to use a Garmin 740.

My suggestion would be to use the heck out of tour coach if you can before you get there. We had a couple of big items to fix, but mostly they fixed things like squeaks, rattles, tightened stuff that needed it, etc. Like others have mentioned here, if they see something that needs to be fixed or adjusted they will most likely do it while it is in there. Make sure you make a pretty detailed list though, because the number of days they will allot for you is based on that..

Is there anyone at Camp Newmar today? We arrive tonight and would like to know if there are any spaces available near the customer lounge. Our rig is already winterized, so it would be nice to not have to walk the 6-year old very far to use the potty.

Stop reserving spots

I recently went to Newmar for a repair, mods, warranty work. I want to share my opinion on this spot reserving situation with cones that goes on here.

In my opinion we all need to stop reserving spots for people! It is first come first serve when you arrive. I was there this past week and saw spots with cones that were not occupied for days. Somewhere above there was some discussion on Newmar's actual rules for the lot but in my opinion, cones should be used when you are already there, the coach is taken in for work for the day and you are returning for your spot. I also suggest that you put tape on the cone with your name and coach number indicating you are there and in service. Do not do this for people not there as that is abusing the system yet again.

When people drive in after a long drive going to Newmar for whatever reason and deserve a spot if a spot is not occupied. Seeing spots with cones for days and never occupied is just screwing someone else over that deserves that spot because they are there now. There are plenty of spaces on Delaware St. and also additional spaces in front of the awaiting delivery fence towards the FHU area in between FHU and Delaware St.

I honestly wish someone would throw the cones away and it is purely first come first serve.

It appears that Newmar's increased production also yields an increase in FPU's and I was surprised to see FPU activity in the FHU area not within facilities. I'm sure that's fine but it sure was nice doing my entire week inside a facility also allowing for immediate repairs on the spot where their tools are. At lease it appeared two coaches this week FPU'd in the FHU area.

So again folks, the spot reserving really needs to stop unless you are already there and leaving and returning to a spot that day, in my opinion. I'm sure this sentiment will be ignored as how people are in our society and this situation won't ever go away unless the cones go away. I'm sharing my opinion because I hate people being selfish and screwing others over as I'm sure is too common in this FHU situation. It happened during my FPU last June when even my coach was taken in and a cone placed, someone took my spot. And with the new service center going up near Building 42 I'm not sure if they are adding FHU sites over there as it seems it's only a service facility to add more capability, not necessarily what we want, more campground
