Thanks for the update. It should improve the paint finish and make painting more efficient. All new coaches can now get an extra coat or 2 of clear coat...

Hi tmandoug1,
You have a good plan. Friday is a good day to arrive? Newmar may be closed on Friday.

How’s the availability at CN right now? Will be coming in on Saturday for appointments starting Monday.

Hi tyoneonit,
That is a very good question. As of the time of this post, there are 6 back in sites. This includes the not so level site 20 (next to the paint shop).

Then there are 3 pull through sites where the occupants left the reserved cone out and their stuff on the utility island. All 3 coaches left yesterday. Gut feel says they will show up again on Sunday afternoon.

Thought that was frowned upon?

Hi tmandoug1,
It is frowned upon. However, not enforced by Newmar. It is a long story.

Remember everyone. Take some tape and put your name on a cone. Don't reserve spots for someone coming, it's 1st come 1st serve. There are plenty of spots for everyone in the two separate areas. Don't forget to remove the tape when you depart CN. Please pass on this procedure so we can all live happily together. If a cone is not labeled then in my opinion the spot is not reserved and I would personally park there. Cones MUST be labeled. If you depart and forget to remove your cone/label then post here for someone to do it for you as I DID last November because I suffer from A.G.E. syndrome.

Again, there is PLENTY of space at CN. And if for some reason they ran out of spots there is plenty of land to dry camp on. Don't worry about being able to park at Newmar. If you haven't been there before it's a large facility with a lot of open grounds.

The auxiliary camping area looked very attractive after spending a week in the gravel FHU lot. We had an unattractive layer of gravel dust on the coach when we left.

That's a good point. Every time I leave both the toad and coach are covered in yuck. I don't know if that's Nappanee in general with the typical winds and farm land or if it's specific to the gravel FHU area. The aux area is water and electric, just no sewer connection.

FYI: We were there for a week & did not see ‘labelled’ cones & were not aware of this ‘rule.’ I would not be comfortable moving an unlabelled reserve cone. Its a great procedure though if everyone knows about it & does it.

I think the employee lot across the road is the culprit. I saw a cloud of dust cover us when they left work to go home.

Hi Lilfoot,
Labeling a cone with one's name must be a NealC rule. While I have seen owners do this, it is an Ad Hoc action taken by that owner. It has nothing to do with Newmar. I hope NealC would not move a cone simply because it did not have a name on it. I've already talked with several Newmar people about this. The only rule is one does not move a cone. Simple as that. Consider checking with Ivy to determine if that site is taken.

If I may digress:
It used to be when one got to CN one went into the lobby hostess (currently Ivy) provided your name and what site you are on. The techs may or may not have already picked up your coach. In the good old days, owners didn't move a cone. It just was not done. Fast forward to the present. Over the past 3 years sales have been at record levels. There are too many owners coming to CN that do not have the tradition of not moving a cone as part of their DNA. This is mentioned in the package of information sent to every owner coming to CN. Way too many newer owners either did not read the package they were sent of think they are better than everyone else and just don't care.

The bottom line is Newmar, in the good old days, did enforce the do not move a cone rule. However, the current situation has deteriorated to the point that now there is no enforcement from Newmar. Not moving a cone is a courtesy. Many people do not know what courtesy means. So if somebody moves your cone and parks in your space, be ready to draw your 9mm or just forget it.

I hope at the new facility a known set of rules is published and enforced. I've met hundreds of Newmar owners and some (a small minority) I would prefer not to meet again.
