Camp Newmar

Any of you folk's at camp Newmar mind telling me how it works? We're coming in tomorrow, September 13th. Want to do a tour on Monday. Can I just show up for some minor work to be done? What about a campsite, are they first come first served?
We're on our way to the Hoots Rally and may never be back this way again.

Thanks for any information.

Hi Bill Hunt,
All work is done by appointment only. Appointments are usually made months in advance. You can just show up for a plant tour. There are two a day. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. A large sign at the front of the property will show the times. When arriving one can take any site not occupied or have a cone showing it is taken.

How are things at Camp Newmar this week? Still very busy? We are on our way to the Hoots III rally and heading north out of Nashville in the morning. Was first thinking of stopping in Indianapolis for the night but if CN isn't too busy we may spend the night there.

Thanks for any info.

We're currently in the full hookup area, hope to leave Saturday. Arrived in the afternoon last Sunday and got the last FH site. Through Wednesday you'd be lucky to get a FH site.

I'll be arriving Sunday 9/21. Newmar has a whole week scheduled for my long list of warranty items.

Hi KitD,
Sunday is the 20th. Monday is the 21st. I understand how one could get this mixed up. At my age, knowing the day of the week is not on my list of important items. Frequently forgotten.

Have a great time at Camp Newmar. I'm sure you know about rising early to give the coach to Newmar. Have breakfast at the Dutch Kitchen. Just go west to the end of the back of Newmar property. Turn right at the stop sign and about a block east. They serve breakfast and lunch. Coincidently they start serving at 6 AM.

I got here today (Sunday 9/20) at about 11:30AM and got the second to the last full hookup site. But there were plenty of water and electric spots at the overflow area.
Thanks Gary for the tip about breakfast.

Question Are most folks at Camp Newmar Retired?

As much as I would love to have Newmar address the couple of warranty items on my 2015 Ventana, I couldn't take the 1-3 weeks off from work to get out there, have the work done and get back.

Are most folks visiting Camp Newmar for work on their coaches retired?

Hi newmarpusher,
Retired yes, that is, most likely, the majority. However, quite a few are on their way somewhere and make Camp Newmar a stop on their trip. If anything Newmar service is reliable to start work when the appointment was scheduled. Now if they get done when they estimated they'd be done, for me, it is a 50/50 bet. With a 15 coach there should be no problem as parts are readably available. As the coach ages, it gets harder to get out of Camp Newmar than get into Camp Newmar.

Yep , I will have to wait a few more years until I can afford several weeks for MH service. Jealous.

Arrived today about 11 and snagged a full hookup from someone just leaving. Pretty full, perhaps 1 full hookup opened up later in the day. Overflow fairly full, but perhaps 6 left. Expect I'll be here all week with some paint work and minor warranty issues. Our 2015 Dutch Star seems to have been hit with the bad led bug. Two lights out, and 4 or 5 pretty dim. Going to have them all replaced. Otherwise we've been pretty lucky with nothing serious warranty wise. I'm generally not as impressed with something that has a great warranty (although good to have), as something that won't need to use it.
