Why do driver seats not have foot rests?

So I am in the process of ordering a new seat to replace the co-driver seat with one that has a foot rest. This is being ordered by my Admiral, who wants to be comfy while riding down the road.
This made me think about why I have yet to see a coach where both captain's chairs are equipped with a foot rest.
Sort of seems to make sense to me that it would be nice to have it on both. Yet, I do not see it.
Is it a legal thing? Safety concerns? Any good reasons for why I should not equip the driver seat this way?
Your comments will be appreciated!
Cheers,
Ronald

Blame it on the newyork lawyers. If you had a footrest on the drivers seat and it deployed and you could not reach the brakes, everyone would be sued.

I have a foot rest on mine. I don't know if it can be deployed while moving, but my guess is that it can since that is the only mechanical portion of the Captain's chair in my unit, along with the reclining portion. Everything else about the Captain's chair is electronic.. I use it when we spin the chair around at a CG for entertainment purposes. I sure would not want to use it while in motion.
Why not?

Good thing to have if you need someone to blame if you got into an accident.. "But officer, its not my fault, the foot rest popped open!"

Hey Ronald
Nobody answered your question. Everybody seems to be talking about the pilot's seat. Why cannot the co-pilot seat have a foot rest? I would like to know the answer as well.

He asked about the drivers seat... not the co-pilot seat
Our coach is equipped the same way.. pilot seat = no foot rest, co-pilot seat = foot rest

Not only would everyone be sued, but as a practical matter, you might find stepping on the brake pedal might be a bit of a challenge.

My bad. I just read where he was buying a co-pilot seat with a foot rest to make the Admiral comfy. Still want to know why many coaches, like the OP's, do not have a foot rest on either seat. One would think the co-pilot's seat could without causing any safety concerns other than egress. Must be just a cost issue.
