I guess the best answer is: Because that's what Newmar says it is. You are free to call it a Luxury Coach if you want. To Newmar it isn't.

I'm grateful for the good advice and quite frankly, the laughs and smiles. That's what it's all about. You folks are pretty great. Yes, I definitely get a clearer picture of why they may have drawn a line, so to speak, between Mountain Aire, and Dutch Star... and I see it now for the marketing gimmick that it most likely is. It's in the eye of the beholder. Indeed. Im slowly putting together my checklist for research and my list for things I absolutely must have floor plan - wise... The plan starts with some factory visits in Indiana, culminating in a trip to Tampa in January. Would any of you please be so kind as to share a few of your own "must haves"? Tag axles? Heated floors? Solar panels? LOL
Thanks again for your good advice, and kind words. So much experience and knowledge on this forum...
Joey

DP, TAG, comfort drive, TV directly across from seating, bath and a 1/2, real tile floors, hydronic heat/hot water, AGM batteries, all electric, residential fridge, navigation, pass through storage, sliding storage trays, 40' max.
That would our basic "must haves" but after 5 previous RV's, we had a long list of things we knew wanted on our newest coach.

Hey what are the whole different stories behind Essex and Ventana?? This sounds really interesting.

Luxury is strictly in the eye of the beholder. What is luxury to one is low end to another. To me if you are not sleeping on the ground. That can be luxury.

These items were never on my must-haves, but I love them now that I have them:
1) Keypad entry
- locks/unlocks front door
- locks/unlocks all storage compartments
(I'm constantly in and out of the RV walking the dogs and it's nice not having to carry keys or a FOB especially with dog treats in one pocket and poop bags in the other)
2) Washer/Dryer
3) Central Vac
4) Pull out spice drawer/rack (special item)

I had a pull out added to the cabinet just left of the microwave. It's in the perfect position right next to the convection stovetop.

Why the TAG axle on a 40' or less coach?

Tag adds incredible stability at highway speeds. With the TAG, the MH just wants to go straight. Also with the TAG dumped, the wheelbase is much shorter than a non tag coach at the same length, making it much more nimble when turning. The TAG on a 40' adds moer CCC than one could ever use. I also intend to carry a motorcycle eventually on the back so rear CCC is important.

What is CCC? And what does a tag "dump" do for you? Is this like the "passive tag steering" I have been reading about on certain FL chassis and new monaco/holiday ramblers have? just curious... that is new lingo to me. Learning curve straight up right now lol. Thanks everybody. Hope everyone has a good day...
Safe travels...
