WiFi Ranger Question
Getting the wifi ranger LTE on my new 2019 Dutch Star. Did not specify the SIM to be included. Has anyone else ordered the wifi ranger? What SIM comes with it? Has anyone changed the SIM? Or do you need to do the install when you get it?

I don't think it comes with a SIM. It is designed to pick up signals from other places and get them to your coach. I have it, but I do not think there is a SIM involved.

Did you miss the "LTE" part?
What SIM you get depends on who you will be using for the LTE service.

I did not specify a provider when I ordered. I have AT&T for phone with hotspot in a grandfathered plan I like. Do not want to change that. But adding another provider would get more consistent coverage. I know you can change the SIM that comes with it, but would have to climb on the roof to do so. Hoping I do not have to do that.

I just took delivery of my 2019 Canyon Star 2 weeks ago. It has the WiFi Ranger installed (I didn't order it) and I haven't had a chance to set it up or anything. It does have a SIM card installed (I guess from the factory). I have no idea who the carrier is or what the WiFi Ranger does that requires a SIM. I have my own ATT hotspot that works just fine so the WiFi Ranger is not high on my list of things to get working right now.

The WiFi Ranger that came on our New Aire did not have a LTE modem. I had to go up on the roof, remove the antenna and board, and send back to WiFi Ranger for them to swap out the board for one with a modem. I specified the carrier at that time. It is a $200 upgrade.

If you ordered your WiFiRanger with the LTE option, there are 3 SIM choices: Verizon, AT&T and Millenicom. Normally, customers specify the SIM at the time of purchase. If your manufacturer didn't request the correct one for you, I'm sure WiFiRanger customer service can assist you in exchanging it for the correct one.

Thanks. Probably millenicom as default. I am not sure whether they resell Sprint or T-Mobile. Their plan may be good enough, but if the coverage is poor, it means a trip to the roof to replace the SIM card. I can also just plug in my AT&T phone as a hotspot, but lose the value of the outdoor antenna. I like the idea that I can combine signals from multiple sources and use a single password. That is what sold me. We will see how it works.

SIM? LTE? All Greek to me. All I know is that we have wifiRanger in our 2018 Newmar Mountain Aire and all I need to do is go to an open network (or one for which I have a password) and connect. We can then connect all of our devices to the wifiRanger and have enhanced internet access.
Am I missing something here?

The LTE version will behave like yours, PLUS use cellular data for internet.

Ahhhhh. Thanks for that info, redbaron73. I rarely use cell data and when I need to, I just use the iPhone direct or set it as a hotspot for the iPad.

The WiFi ranger LTE will work with Millenicom, AT&T and Version. SIM card is already installed and in the Newmar black bag will be a credit card size card the micro sim was originally attached to. It will have the SIM card number along with a IMEI number you will need to give one of these carriers of your choice. If you already have a hotspot you can attach it by the usb cable to the usb plug on the side of the WiFi ranger box in the cabinet above the entry door. There is a you tube video on how to set the programming up.

Like to hear how well the Wifiranger LTE works for folks, compared to the likes of weBoost 4G-X and the Wifiranger Elite
Nice thing about the LTE model is the advantage of a single unit to amplify both WiFi and Cellular signals
