Wind and Comfort Drive
I made a 600-mile round trip today. My daughter's softball tournament got cancelled halfway into the journey to Houston. I turned around, after stopping to bake some peanut butter cookies to drown my sorrow, and drove back home.
The wind was out of the south at about 20mph. When driving south, I had to fight the wheel more than normal. I have the dial set to 6. When I headed back north, I still had to adjust often but not as drastically.
When I encounter the wind from the side, I do not notice it hardly at all.
Any pointers?
I don't know if you can see the cookies baking in this picture or not. [emoji12]

Try lowering your comfort drive setting down to 3 or lower. You have the setting too high.

Turning the setting up doesn't make it perform differently in regards to how the wind is blowing. Changing the setting (turning up the number) just gives you more resistance in the steering that you feel in the wheel.
I drive mine at about 2.5. I think many here run theirs at between 2-4.

I tend to adjust the CD based on how windy thing are. Normally I drive with the CD set to about 3, but when it's windy it goes to 6+. I find the increased resistance in the steering wheel helps me better control our MH in the wind.

I think that is what makes the system neat.....I never change my dial and I like the number to be lower in the wind. I steer with only my left index finger and thumb with my arm on the armrest. This also allows me to throttle up and down on the cruise without any effort.

Sorry it took me a little while to get here. I've been out playing in the traffic without a computer all week.
You're using that knob ALL WRONG! You're supposed to turn it lighter when chasing wind gusts. That's why it's called the "Engineer-controlled Efforts Knob" Oh, wait a minute. It's in your coach, not mine, so it must be a "DRIVER-CONTROLLED efforts knob". What that means is that how I use it or intended it to be used makes absolutely no difference in how you use it. If it makes you more comfortable turning it up, I'm thrilled for you. That's why it was created.
The way anybody should use that control is exactly like you use the radio volume and tone knobs. You change them any time you want them a little different. If you like what its doing, leave it alone. If its too _______, adjust accordingly.
When I got in the truck this morning, I could hardly believe that I liked the setting where it was set last night. I had to stiffen it up some. By mid-afternoon, though, it was back to being light.
I read the whole thread and wondered if I should even post in it. There's a lot of good advice here already.

Understood, KenSherwin. I thought there was some magic setting. After your post, I understand it is what is comfortable for me while I am driving.
Thanks for the advice and perspective.

Ken, I find it interesting that in many post it seems that Comfort Drive seems to work best in a side wind but seems to struggle more in a head or tail wind. Any thoughts?

The square nose of our coaches tends to amplify any buffeting from a headwind and pushes the nose around first. Since the driver is right up there, you feel that side lurch and try to do something about it even before the coach actually tries to move. Gusts acting on the side try to move the whole coach and that is less noticeable up at the front. The next time you find yourself in gusty conditions, especially right on the nose, try slowing down a bit until you try this experiment and get comfortable with it if you like it. Experiment with not moving the wheel in response to every bounce. You will probably discover that the lurch you just felt didn't actually change the lane placement at all and that if you had actually steered to compensate for it that you just have to compensate the other way half a second later.
I find that the more laid back and relaxed I am, the better I can handle the buffeting. Come to think of it, that's pretty much true of life in general, isn't it?

Wind and Comfort Drive
Laid back and relaxed is why I bought my DS. That's the whole idea of the lifestyle for me. And....it drives a whole bunch better than my 2 gas Winnies and 2 Holiday Rambler DP's.
So if the OP never drove a DP before, it would be tough to realize just how good the 4369 does drive, wind or not!

I am going to try this the next time I'm fighting a head wind. Thanks for the advice. Love my Ventana and Comfort Drive.

The advice holds true even for obsolete coaches; those are the ones without CD.

I agree with KenNJ. I leave mine set at 3.5 all the time. 6 would require too much steering effort for my liking.
