We own a 2000 Dutch Star 38 equipped with a manual door awning mounted with the long support braces on each side of the door. We get a loud wind noise from the front brace in certain wind conditions. We have tried covering the brace with a foam pipe insulation cover to seal the gap between the brace and coach with some minor success. Has any one else had this problem and found a cure short of removing the brace? The increased windy weather this spring has about taken our sanity!

Thanks for you help.

Hi Homeless,

Welcome to iRV2.

Does the door window frame have weep holes at the bottom of the window? If so, put electrical tape over the holes. Does the co-pilot window have weep holes? If so, put electrical tape over the lead hole. Leave the rear hole open for drainage. If you get to a Newmar dealer, ask their parts department for weep hole covers. Cover the rear passenger weep hole with the cover. You'll be surprised at the noticable reduction in wind noise.

If the driver notices wind noise, do the same on the driver's side.

The noise will still be there, it will be outside and not noticable inside.

Thanks GaryKD.

I don't have weep holes in the door window, but do under the co-pilot window. The noise does come from the near extreme right corner of the coach and ahead of the door. I won't be moving for about 2 months, so won't be able to test your input. In does sound like it could be a source of some noise, but this noise level, I believe, exceeds 80 - 90 db at times.

Again thanks for your response.

Has the noise just started or been going on "forever".

Our 2000 DSDP had the wind noise too. When we were are Newmar once for warranty work the technicians were fixing all of them in the lot whether the owners had complained or not.

Newmar stuffed a long piece of foam in the cavity of the front arm and that took care of the problem.

Thanks Norm. I appreciate the input very much. As I stated in an earlier post, I am not moving for sometime, but will definitely give this solution a try.

Again, thanks

HV
