The passenger side electric visor is inoperable while the engine is running. I'm sure Newmar did this as a safety feature as the passenger side will go all the way down to the dash, while the drivers side has a stop.
In my opinion this is becoming a real safety hazard. When driving into the sun it always seems to be coming through that side right into my eyes. Does anyone know of a way to bypass this?
Thanks,
Steve

Hi tpsps,
I'd do a couple of things in parallel.
1. Send Newmar tech support an email with your question. Their email address is customerservice@newmarcorp.com
2. Look at all the automotive 12 VDC fuses. Is there one labeled for the passenger visor? If so, we've now narrowed this to a specific circuit. The trick will be to change the wires to this fuse to another circuit that has power when the engine is running.

Thank you Gary, I just sent Newmar Customer Service the same question using the link you provided. If there are no suggestions they can give to make it operable while driving, I'll take a look around for the fuse.

If you find two fuses take remove the one out for drivers side and jumper it, wire feed to drivers side motor, to the passenger fuse using one of those muiltible fuse wire links.

Thanks for the suggestion 007, I just went out and checked all the fuses and couldn't find a separate fuse for the passenger side. Hopefully Newmar Customer Service wil respond with a solution.

Hi tpsps,
Thanks for the update. This means the cut off for that motor is wired to the ignition switch, somehow and somewhere. Let's see what Newmar Service says. If they will not disclose the "secret" location of the component, then all one can do is start tearing thing apart and tracing wires. I do not know if the wiring diagram is available.

When you mentioned the cut off for the motors, you got me thinking, so I went out to see if there was a way to wire the passenger motor off the driver motor.
Well I found a little wire hanging off the end of the shade that has a little black button on it (these are MCD shades) so I pressed the button a couple of times and then the shade didn't work at all. When I took a closer look there was a lable wrapped around the wire that said " For Programming Purposes Only".
So not having a clue what I was doing, but the shade didn't work now anyway, I started playing with it and now the shade goes down when the engine is running. It won't go back up with the engine running, but at least it will go down if the sun is in my eyes.
Now I need to find out more about programming MCD shades because it goes up a little higher than the drivers side so they don't line up properly.
But at least I'm on the right track.
Thanks again for your replies. If I can get any programing info from MCD, I'll post it.
Steve

I went online and found the link for programming the power shades and problem solved. http://www.rvcruzin.com/mcd/Gen4_Manual.pdf
There are four set points for each shade; ignition on lower and upper and ignition off lower and upper.
I just finished programming the passenger shade to match the driver shade and all works well.
Thanks again for your help and suggestions.

Interesting fix. I'm glad it was simple and cheap. However, the older I get the more I think we (collectively speaking) out feature ourselves. Whatever happened to KISS (not the band).

You know, for us guys, the major perk of owning a MH, is all the things we get to play with, trying to make it work better, or in some cases, work at all.
