I drove home in the rain today with a new to me 2003 Dutch Star. The wipers woul not come on with the switch. We stoppd and ran a wire from a hot lead to the motor and ran a line inside to a switch. When needed the switch turned them on. The next day we tried connecting the wipers back up and they worked for a while. Now they are intemitten. Some times coming on and sometimes not. They also will stop when the mood suits them. And oh yes I have never been able to get high speed at all only intermitten and low speed. I am thinking it is the switch as the motor seems to work fine except in high speed. I willo try and hotwire itagain in the morning to se if I can get high speed. I think there is a relay so could that be the problem? Any help is appreciated. Thanks Bill Young

Some have found when it rains water will get into plug to motor from control switch.
If you pull plug apart and dry than use di-electric grease and replug than tape plug halves will solve problem. Also may need some sealant on both end holes of plug to stop water also.

Is your wiper controlled by a smart wheel? If so, you have a circuit board usually attached to the inside firewall that the wiring plug may have come lose while doing other work in the area. It makes the wipers do weird things. Not that this has ever happened to me.

Your problem in one of the many problems I have had with our wipers. This exact problem is probably caused by a loose electrical connection in the system somewhere. Check all the connections. Mine was in the fuse panel. The panel did not hold the fuse tight . An RV technician found it by chance and squeezed the contacts to tighten them so the fuse was tight. That problem was solved.
