Winegard SK1000

A question concerning mounting the Winegard SK1000 Trav'ler on a NewAire after purchase---is it necessary to use the optional Winegard base plate under the dish?

Sounds dumb but we didn't realize the 3343 had no antenna mounted from the factory as the Berkshire 34QS that we traded did. Selling dealer didn't mention it and missed an antenna sale/installation shot in the process.

It might not be necessary, but I would (and did on mine) because it gives extra support for the dish and the roller wheel that rolls on the roof when raising and lowering.

I did the same. May not have been needed but it gives more piece of mind on the mount.

I’ve mounted three of them. Two I used the large base and one I used the small plate for the wheel. I would only used the large base plate in the future. No problem with the small plate setup, but the large plate is much cleaner installation.

I did not use one - fiberglass roof. If not fiberglass - would have used one.

I have two Trav'lers, o the fifth-wheel (fiberglass roof) and the Bounder (rubber roof). Used the reinforcement plate on neither. I did put a 8" piece of Eternabond under where the roller lands on the roof.

The main reason for the reinforcement plate is for weak roofs.
