Winterization Thread #116.

Completed my winterization which required 7 gal of the pink stuff to do everything including the refrigerator, ice maker, washer, and dishwasher (don’t forget the hot water line up front and the water bay shower). Now have two questions:
1) I’ve messed with the level of my coach (nose low, etc) and jumped up and down. No matter what there is probably 5-8 gal of fresh water still in the tank that will not gravity feed out. Is this an issue? I’m not real fond of putting pink stuff directly into the fresh water tank itself.
2) Can one use the oasis system to heat the coach while antifreeze is in the fresh water heat exchanger tube, and does it loose its antifreeze integrity by being significantly heated by the oasis?

Thanks!

Just read an interesting article in the FMCA magazine from Mark Quasius (Cruzer on this forum). He actually recommends blowing out the antifreeze immediately after putting it in to recover most of it and minimize the bitter taste in the water when you unwinterize. He owns a Cornerstone nowadays and is active in the Entegra forum, you could PM him or head over there and post any unanswered questions after reading the article.

Winterization Thread #116.

Blow out to recover? Very interesting idea. Might not work for everything, but for many things this would be a fantastic idea. I'm gong to get a few jugs out of the trash and see what blows out to reclaim. Will keep you posted.

If you don't blow out ....what is the start up procedure to start removing the pink stuff and bitter taste.....what is the Javex ratio etc. How long do you have to flush, and where is a good place to look for that will allow you to use there hose connection and flush the tanks and lines ......would a Blue Beacon car wash be a idea ?

Winterizing and sanitizing are all explained here many links for what ever you need.
Once plumbing is sanitized correctly you will have the taste of fresh water out of your fresh water tank.

Blew out the antifreeze and was able to reclaim 2 gallons. Therefore used a total of 5 gallons. Will do better next year. Thanks Luv2Go!

I've been wondering about this myself. I know you can run your hydronic system for coach heating while winterized, but wonder if it has any effect on the antifreeze .
