Winterize water softener system

My coach has a water softener system installed when new by RV dealer not Newmar. It also has a water filter attached to the panel that I believe was done at Newmar. My concerns when winterizing is to insure the water filter housing and the softener system are both winterized.

To fill my coach I use a water line that comes from the side/top of compartment. Then there is another line that comes from the top of compartment and attaches to the fresh water inlet on the panel.

The previous owner believes the water softener will be winterized with antifreeze from the pump just like the faucets. That will be the case if it is in the pressurized loop after the pump. I believe the water is going through the water softener first then to the tank (to fill) or the water system if the city water line is hooked up.

There is a small spigot on one of the water softeners so I may be able to drain the water but wonder if the lines need purged. The other container I believe holds the salt so don't know if that needs antifreeze. If I can't figure out a simple way to winterize then I will be a water pump and use it to force antifreeze through the fresh water inlet hose (that feeds the softener).

Thanks

I would not think the anti freeze would be good for the resin in the softener .......take it out and follow the manufactures instructions for long term storage. I just got done doing my softener just now.......as it is going to sit for some time........

You may have a hose to by-pass the vacant spot for when you remove the water softener, the WHF should be removed before winterizing the coach.
You will find directions for winterizing in this link and all links below in my signature have info for your Newmar.

I didn't need a bypass hose because the water softener was before the water loop. There was a hose the ran from the softener to the front of the water panel (city water inlet) so once I removed the softener I removed that hose and just used the inlet.

Now the ice maker was in the loop of the removed reverse osmosis system so I unplugged the inlet line leading to it and ran it hoping to get the water out of the line and mechanism inside. If not I will use air or try to suck antifreeze in the line. Maybe a syringe will work???

Thanks for the link I found it in another newbie thread like mines so already checked the links which were helpful with diagrams or pictures.

I found a few of the fittings had small seepage/leaks so in the Spring I know what I will be chasing...

I flew in small airplanes that had simpler systems than this MH lol
