I officially have the worst dealer in the world.
I won't go into all the rework and time the coach has been there in its first year. (there is a lot) I wanted to give a few examples of how bad it is. Essentially every time I take it for a repair, something else gets damaged. Usually body and paint damage.
NOTE: Spartan and Newmar have been great to work with.
FYI, I am a minimum of 5 hours from a Newmar dealer with any sort of reputation. I am 7 hours from the factory.
FYI2, this dealer is CSI rated and a Newmar Platinum dealer.
1. Last November. Post shakedown cruise repairs. Gave the dealer three weeks. Upon picking it up, noticed that rear camera and housing and rear cap had been backed into something hard. Many repairs not attended to. Decided to wait for repair until I returned from our long awaited vacation.
2. Stranded 3 times because of inside duals going flat. After much diagnosis, it turns out the dealer installed extensions wrong. Extensions had vibrated and ruined the stem seal. The last time I was stranded was in January in Buffalo and I was trying to get out to Spartan to get the tag fixed. I had to help the repair guy in -15 weather b/c he was alone. We removed all wheels and reset the stems.
Also, dealer tried to fix a vibration in the rear by balancing the tires w/sand. Spartan ended up replacing all tires, ($5,000 to them) and said they've never seen anything like it.
3. Main Awning fell off due to bolts being overtightened at the factory and shearing. This happened in my campground. I had no way to get the awning to the factory so I was forced to return to this dealer. When doing the body work, they damaged the front corner w/a falling ladder and didn't paint some of the replaced pieces from the awning damage. Slideout got out of adjustment somehow.
4. Back to the dealer to complete body work. Had to as Newmar won't handle rework directly. Dash A/C goes for some reason and dealer takes it to a repair shop. Repair shop backs into side of coach w/an 18 wheeler. Miraculously only one door is damaged. I wasn't told about it. The dealer was going to try have it fixed w/o me knowing. A surprise visit is how I found out.
5. 3 new scratches appeared after having the door done.
As a note:
Newmar and Spartan repair at the factory have been great. I will go once a year for maintenance and repair.
Spartan had to replace the tag axle, all tires (b/c of dealer) and the shocks to get it right. They even paid for a rental car for me to return home for a week while they worked on it.
Newmar did great work, did it fast and threw in extras.
However, I have found it a challenge to get Newmar to stand behind dealer work very well. If it is warranty related they are more willing to help w/rework.
In my body damage situations, Newmar wouldn't touch it so I was forced to use the same dealer for body repair or pay Newmar and sue the dealer for the costs. Obviously Newmar doesn't want to get into charging their dealers for work they do at the factory.
I'm not saying Newmar is any different, better or worse than other manufacturers. In my situation, it is factory only.

Scott, you are fast approaching your warranty date. I would suggest that if you have any open Newmar issues that you request an extension until they are resolved to your satisfaction. I did this with my '06' and got a written reply agreeing. My warranty expired in Dec. 06...my coach is in the shop now, hopefully, resolving the last 8 issues. It has not been easy, but I did not give up.
Hopefully you are past the 1st year aggravations and problems. I now have 24,600 miles and 600 engine hours.

Scott, just a suggestion, isn't there a independent approved Newmar repair shop closer?
I'm 8 minutes from North Trail but if I need something fixed quickly and they couldn't get to me I'd go to an independent. JMHO

Hey Scott - SO sorry you have had all this trouble
Not to be nosy, but the name of the dealership might be useful so that others can avoid it & the same type of hassles.

Not sure if it is appropriate to name names. But, I do live in the Buffalo area.

Naming the dealer as the result of personal experiences with same is something that even I've done myself and certainly permissable within the TOS and rules of this site.

Appropriate??? Is it appropriate to for them to do what they did to you? I don't get it. If all you said is true why do you take the high ground and give them the benefit? I will give you a name to avoid am not shy to do so. Mountain Road Rv in Sabatus, Maine. This is the most useless dealership in the entire Northeast! If you want details, ask any ye shall receive! I am not worried about repercussions because the information I will give can be substantiated! Why is it on this site we can cheer Newmar into oblivion and never question those (or Newmar) who mistreat us. Most (some) of us EARNED (recognize the value) our money and are more practical than (SOME-read the topics in this category)
My coach is one year two months old. The optional mirrors cost an additional $800.00 for chrome. Well, unlucky me, I have two of these high cost mirrors installed and they are falling off the coach (only four screws drilled into the fiberglass without backing plates) and the chrome is peeling off them.
That said, read this, I am not going to buy the most expensive coach they sell to correct my problem! Some of you will know of what I speak. Some of us are real people.
