The conduit could be handy, but the access was pretty easy. Maybe six screws to remove the passenger "A" pillar cover and then remove the cable cover on the cap. Since you're not ordering the Xite with GPS, there may not be a cable cover on the roof, unless the stock Sony comes with an XM module. The XM module requires a cable run to the roof.

I am getting the Sirius Prep so there should be a cable run.

If you're getting the Sirius prep, I don't know if I would pay for the conduit. It would save you pulling the "A" pillar cover off. Once you order the Kenwood, call them and order the extra long GPS cable as the one they provide will be too short, especially if it's run inside conduit.

Are the garmin updates free?

About $70 per update. Maps are updated once a year.

I was under the impression that the Garmin updates are free. They are on our RV 760LMT. Has something changed with Garmin that I haven't heard about?

TJ

Edit: After a bit of research, it appears that Garmin does not provide free updates for its software when it is used in third-party applications; e.g. Kenwood. That's unfortunate and might change my outlook on the DNX75RVS.

Yea. It's a double wammy. Garmin provides free updates and provides map updates for the 760/770 type stand along RV units about three times a year. Through Kenwood, they are only updated once a year and cost $60.
