Zone 2 AC not cold but Zone 1 is cold

Newbie again... Today Zone 2 air conditioning stopped being cold, still running fine but air is slightly cooler than straight fan. 94 degrees today. I turned it off for a couple hours and back on after turning off Zone 1. No change. Any assistance with this dilemna would be most appreciated. Going to be a warm weekend.

It sounds like it is working electrically it may be a refrigeration problem
adding refrigerant only fixes the problem temporary they need to find the leak

From what I've read, it's NOT a simple job to add gas...a new port needs to be soldered/welded into the system before a recharge...probably a several hundred dollar job itself!

It is not normal for a 20 year old A/C to need Refrigerant the only way it is low on charge is if it leaks out

Hi rosannemarie,
Jut tell the service writer your complaint. Remember you are the "what". Service is the "how". I try to not bias the service people with my ideas. Let them go through their diagnostics and tell you what is wrong, It could be something simple. There aren't many shops that will add refrigerant to a sealed system.

My 2011 Canyon Star 3642 had the same problem, but it was Zone 1 that went out a few months ago in the summer heat. I took it into the shop and they had to replace the AC unit. It was done under warranty.

If it's a Dometic Duo-Therm it has a 2-year Warranty. Rook

In conclusion...like John219, the A/C has to be replaced and is under warranty. So glad we're living in the coach to work out initial bugs before hitting the road in about 17 months. Newmar sent out a new A/C unit and next week is install of the new unit. Thankfully, we've had cooler temps these past 10 days or so. Thanks again to those who responded.
