05 - Alpine Coach Pros & Cons

Just purchased an 05 Alpine 36FD with a 400 Cummins. What are the
good things & bad things (or problems) that could occur with the Motor
Home? Any information would be appreciated.

Jim, have you reviewed the posts in this forum? There are numerous posts discussing 2005 and 2006 coaches that will help you understand the good, bad and ugly of these coaches. Use the search function at the top of the page.

Jim, if you search "Cummins recall" your will find 4 discussions, 1 of which details how this affected Alpines by Engineer Mike from 2007 and updated as late as 2014. The search tool here on IRV2 is very powerful. Additionally once you identify a coach that interests you reach out to Cummins with the SN and see what they can tell you, you might even want to take it to them for an evaluation.

Agree--use the IRV2 search function and you will learn a lot--here are a few issues to research: radiators, suspension/frame rail bolts, Onan inverter, adjustable brake pedals, steering bracket.......all are fixable

And all issues do not apply to all 2005/6 models, but are worth investigating.

Jim, welcome to the Alpine Owners at IRV2. You can find just about anything you want to know about your coach here using the search function, and if it has not been discussed before there are lots of folks to assist.

You may also want to investigate ACA (Alpine Coach Association), ACE (Alpine Coach East) and FMCA. The FMCA Spring rally is in Perry, GA (3/15 - 20) with the ACA/ACE pre rally in Charleston (3/10 - 14), search for ACA Pre Rally for information. Go to the sticky at the top of this forum and you will see the information on ACA (Alpine Tech Library - For Real will lead you to the site), there you will find LOTS of information about your coach. You will also find a topic "Alpine Registry", you can look up your coach SN and possibly find who the previous owner was, if they registered and/or you don't know already. Add a posting to that topic or send a PM to the original poster with your information and Milt will add you to the list.

Alpine owners are very helpful, you just need to take advise from owners of some other brand (SOB) with a grain of salt. WRV did things differently so their advice could be good, or could lead you down the rabbit hole.

PS--if you still have the "lower temp" [blue] elbows on your turbo piping, plan on replacing with the "higher temp" orange elbows--if/when they blow off......
