1999 Alpine Coach - ice maker issue

Hello everyone,

I have a built in basement ice maker (originally a U-Line brand but replaced with brand new unit) and it’s not making ice. I have power (unit gets ice cold) and the water line is connected properly- but no ice. I don’t see any shut off valves under/behind the fridge but I see one under the kitchen sink attached to the water filter. Tried turning this and nothing. Bad valve? Or?

Thanks for any and all suggestions

I don't know if we had the same type, but you have to make sure its getting water and the air out of the line. I would put a thermometer in it if it doesn't already have one and they have to reach a certain temp before it cycles and makes ice. Some will do two types medium and low temp. So I would make sure your cold enough and water is there and air out of lines would be a good start. Then I would pull up on line and trouble shoot. I hope that helps a little.

Thanks for that. I believe it’s cold enough as I poured a bit of water directly into the ice maker and it produced cubes. The inside walls of the unit are extremely cold too. Looks like it might originate under the kitchen sink but I’ve gently tugged on the line and not getting any movement at the unit down in the basement. Not sure how/where it’s routed. May change the shut off valve at the water filter under the sink and see if that’s the problem - believe it’s pretty old - maybe stuck closed?

I have a 2003 38FD and the water for ice maker is in the valve and hose hook up compartment Driver side. I have a panel there that is velcroid on and behind it is the valve for the fridge ice maker. But sounds like your on it no water.

Thank you Green machine,

I have the 36MDS (mid door) and am familiar with the Velcro panel where the hookups are but haven’t fished around in there just yet. And, mine is the built in ice maker unit mounted in the basement as we don’t have a fridge ice maker. I’m hoping there’s some sort of valve behind that panel that allows water to the unit. Thanks again for your input...can’t thank you enough.
