2000 Alpine No Brake Lights, No Back up brake

I have a 2000 alpine coach and have been trying to trouble shoot my hydro-max back up Brake. In the process I found that my brake lights are not working along with Cruise not disengaging. I have looked at you pictures on the forum but am confused because I don't have power at the switch on either wire. Key is on, fuses checked. I all so don't have power to the back up motor on brake booster no power to the relay. Is there a fuse some where I am missing? I am traveling and trying to trouble shoot the issue. Your insight would be greatly appreciated..

So I have brake lights I missed the fuse. Now I am on to the back up brake motor. Any thoughts on what might be going on? I am going to switch out the relay to see if that does anything. The motor runs because I tested it.

You can test the relay by putting +12v to one coil wire & Ground to the other; you'll hear the contacts click together if relay is working, and will go from no continuity on load contacts to continuity.
Coil = spades 85/86 and these spades should read continuity (zero ohms)
Load = spades 30/87

Well I went under and unplugged repluged relay. played with the fuses in gen slide compartment. Seems to me that the fuses have to go in a certain way so I made sure I had power on each side. Played with relay some more and all of a sudden it turned on. I will keep an eye on it but I am happy. Next time the engine goes out I will be able to stop.

Relays are cheap. Take it to a NAPA or AZone & for maybe $8 you'll have a new one. Might keep the old one for a spare.

The relay on my 2001 Alpine is located on the firewall on the passenger side. It is located near the turn signal relays. Hope this info helps.

Thanks Dave - mine is also a 2001 so go searching around tonight and see what I can find. Also ordered a brake switch this morning just in case.

Hey Dave

You're talking about the fuse panels on the passenger side on the inside of the coach - not the outside firewall ??

I call it a firewall but it is the bulkhead in behind the front panels where a lot of electrical is mounted on the inside of the coach including many of the fuses.

Well the brake lights have been working since I turned the power from batteries off and back on last week and seemed to reset or just coincidence. Had bought a new brake switch and figured I would go ahead and put it in today so one less item to worry about.. Got it all hooked up and now nothing. Tried to turn off the power and no such luck. Looked for a relay on the passenger side and don't really think any are related. Was two flasher relays, one seems to be the fuel pump and another maybe some lighting. Looked at all the fuses.

Did find a relay on the wheel well wall in the area of the brake pump. The relay had a clear box and can see a pair of diodes or resistors. The wire from the brake pump goes to the relay. Wondering if this relay may be the culprit. Added a pic of the relay and dash panel

Thanks
Bruce
