I have an issue with filling my fuel tank. It backsplashes out the filler neck unless I slowly trigger the fuel nozzle.

Does anyone else have this problem or have any suggestions for correcting this ?

I find pulling the nozzle out a little eliminates the issue on mine. Check the vent tube to make sure it is not kinked or otherwise obstructed.

Another trick I use is to jact the front up with the levelers. I do this especially if the nose is low at the pump.

More than likely is either a kink in the vent hose (as Wayne R suggests) or a low spot in the vent hose where fuel can accumulate and prevent air escaping through it. Does it fill slowly from both sides? If yes, check the vent hoses on both sides. There have been issues with the vent hoses on our Alpines so I would look there first as inadequate venting is usually the cause of slow fuel filling in almost any vehicle.

All good suggestions but also if you have the option to fuel from either side just open the other side for more venting.

Good idea, I crack the off side to let some air in and help with the venting. The other consideration is that diesel foams. Normally you can get more in the tank if you put it in very slowly when it's almost full.

I had the same problem until I replaced the entire vent line. WRV had used way too many plastic ties and cinched them way up to tight; that definitely restricted the flow of the venting. I also found that the hose was badly deteriorated. If it was as bad looking on the inside as the out, no wonder the tank was venting poorly. When I bought my new hose at NAPA I made sure it was resistant to diesel fuel. Now all is well...

When I had my 2000 I had a slow fill problem that I could never get fixed. WRV replaced and rerouted the vent hose several times and it made no difference. I had to slow fill the last 25 gallons to get it full. The problem was a design problem of the tank. The the fill line comes in the middle of the tank and the diesel foams up when filling.

For the record, mid-door Alpines can fill from either side.....When it comes to talking Alpines on this forum, the three words that get me in the most trouble are: "all" "every" and "never"?????
