2003 40: Alpine Steering box

How do you remove the M-100 steering box?
Do you have to remove the pitman arm first?
How much does it weigh?

You did say what your problem is?
There is a free download of Sheppard M- Series power steering services manual.
It is complete manual showing Pitman arm removal.
There is a tech phone number of 717-633-4111 before you begin repairs.
I called them recently and they told me seal kit number, which an easy fix.
If you need parts should be able to go to Kenworth or Mack.
If you do not know the weight, maybe you could use a floor jack.

Also might be a good idea to have caps or plugs for the hydraulic lines to stop fluid from draining out.

Alpine 2003 M-100 Leak

Hi The steering box pitman shaft seal is leaking.

Do you have to take the box off to do the fix. I heard the box weighs about 90 lbs. and the arm take a special puller and a huge torque wrench.

did you fix yours?

here is the Sector Shaft Seal Replacement procedure
I talks about a specific puller, however I venture that generic pullers can be used.
Also, IIWMI'd take a crack first at doing this on the vehicle, just cuz I hate lifting weights. You would have to finagle the pitman arm out of the round bracket hole while dangling the assembly from the steering shaft. I'd probably rig a small chain & tie it up to one of the frame bolts overhead to keep heavy strain off the steering shaft. Likely that would be a PITN and I'd end up removing it, but I like to add extra steps when I can.
