2003 Alpine 34 FDDS

We put a deposit down on this coach. VIN # 18xf48k2931174869. Does anyone know any history about this coach? It has 35,750 miles on it and 130 hours on the gen. Color is Shadow/Ebony/Black tie. I was surprised to see that it came with factory 37" plasma tv and electric front and side sun screens. I could not find those options in the 2003 Alpine brochure but they were available in the 2004. Maybe it was assembled in late 2003? The coach is in Colorado and we live in North Idaho so we will have 1200 miles to get to know the coach before we get her home. At the moment it is getting a complete service and detail to include all new toyo's. I wanted Michelins but was told the coach would ride an inch taller and my 12 foot shop door is only 11' 10 1/2" so the last thing that I need to do is make problems for myself. I am impressed with the feed back I have read about this company. They told me that if I look over the coach and decide that I'm not totally happy with it that they would fly me and my wife back home and they will put that on paper. They are going to change all the fluids and filters on the gen, motor and tranny and I asked to have the brake fluid flushed also. I'm looking forward to being schooled here on everything regarding our Alpine and most of all I'm looking forward to enjoying are home away from home. I'll post photos after we get back ...Jim & Elissa

It sounds like you will have tight fit in your garage. WRV used different tire sizes on different lenghts of M/H, so heights could vary a little. My door is 11-11. My 2000 fit fine with a Motosat. The 2007 I had a Kingdome that pushed it 12'. I had to replace the Kingdome with a Motosat so I could get it in my garage. Although there is nothing else you could change, you should probably have them measure it.

Jim & Elissa- Welcome to the family, both Alpine & iRV2!!

VIN isn't listed under the Alpine Register thread, nor elsewhere under the Alpine Forum, so no intelligence there. Ask the dealer the last name of the prior owner and see if we know them.

Coach might be an 03 or it might be an 04. Paint color schemes, interior appointments, etc. were not perfectly model year specific. If they ran out of TV's of one sort they'd use what they had or could get, and entertainment options were one of the most frequently updated since the sum of components was always bound to include something a mfgr wanted to obsolete. When you get the rig and post some photos, we can figure out if its truly an 03. Once easy clue is whether it has the Vansco module in battery compartment & adjustable brake/fuel pedal assembly; if so its an 04.

The first Alpine Coach I ever saw was an '03 on a dealer lot, and it had the optional 37" plasma screen, and a friend has an '03 with the plasma screen, one version older than the 37" plasma that came with my '04. Also, the 03's had 4 house batteries whereas the '04 had 6. But Mike is right, WRV changed entertainment center equipment frequently within model years. I have seen '04's with different entertainment center components than mine came with. (None of which are still in the coach!) So the plasma screen itself does not indicate '04.

The registration will show the correct year if/when you buy it.

The VIN indicates it has the ISC 350 HP engine (K). That would make it a 2003.

Several other 2003 coaches have the 37" screen (wish I did). Those with the smaller CRT televisions have to modify the cabinets to upgrade.

The electric front and side shades would be aftermarket, IIRC. The OEM equipment was the Rosen(?) plexiglass, adjustable fold down-type.

The Alpine Coach Association (ACA) version of the Registry has no former owner listed, either.

Let us know if you can provide any further info on it, for the Registry.

Hope to see you driving it soon!

PM me if you'd like a pdf of the 2003 Owner's Manual. You can also download it from Alpine Coach Association. Maybe it'll help you get a head start....
