Assume you still have the old DHS 12v surround sound system--volume is controlled thru the source, eg, TV of dash radio [think all the connections are RCA jacks]. The switch on your front dash pointing toward the passenger seat may be the problem. This button switches the surround sound from off, to radio [audio], to video [tv]. Over the years, our switch has gotten more and more flaky. Dont know if DHS still makes/has parts for this system or not. A lot of folks have given up on the old 12v DHS system and have gone with a cheap to modest priced 120v home theater system--sometimes you can use the the existing speakers--if you dont crank it up too much!!!!
PS-- advantage of new 120v system is remote card ops, usb iPod connects, and disc player.
PSS--ref the PS, all of these "advantages" can also be gained with a new in-dash radio [if you get the DHS system working].

Just installed a new 32 Samsung LCD TV in the front area. My problem is the audio out of the TV is not variable. The DHS is at full volume. Do you know if the pioneer in dash stereo has an auxiliary input that way I can control volume?

2003 Alpine

I have the 2003 and it came with the old tv set and the sound was all good. I went and installed the flatt screen and then one of my problems started. On the back of the flat screen there is a pin plug and it is sound full blast,no volume control when I tied it into the surround sound the surround sound has no volume control. So I went on ebay and purchased a volume control. I still have the switch to go from cable or sate. I could hook each one ok but I had to keep changing as for movies are cable. That has worked for me so for. I can change to HD1 or antenna and I have volume and I control with the volume control. I'm sure there's a better way, thats just what I did without replacing the surround sound.

Why would you want to run TV audio through the stereo audio. Maybe my 05 is totally different, but the stereo is only hooked to speakers in the front cab area. If I ran TV audio through the stereo, you wouldn’t really be able to hear it in the living area.

Previous owner installed a cheap surround system. I just replaced the TV and mounted a soundbar to the board under the TV. We are loving this set up. Soundbar was highly affordable. Using ARC connection, TV volume controls soundbar volume. In Lehman’s terms, I don’t have to switch sources on the soundbar or use the soundbar remote (unless I want to change sound profiles.
