2004 fdds

Just bought a 2004 34FDDS, needs new 3M on the front and new head light lens covers. Anyone out there in the California area that may know of a repair shop that will replace the 3M shield and knows who might have new lens covers, I would appreciate some phone numbers. Also looking for a new vent cover, chrome with three louvers (right rear of coach). Thank you, Lee

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your purchase. What possessed you to do something like that???

The headlights are BMW E39 headlights from the 2000 model year. The lens cover is part of the whole housing unit, and not something that can be replaced separately. Lots of aftermarket E39 headlight units out there. I bought new aftermarket E39 headlights with projector beam headlights and LED "angel eyes". It is not that difficult to change them yourself if you are so inclined. They look 1000 times better than the crazed ones.

Redlands Truck Service might do the headlight swap now. I know I have talked to him about it after I did mine myself.

I need to find somebody to remove the 3M on mine as well. I don't have a recommendation for where to go, but there is a decent chance that the paint will be damaged taking the old one off. Or so I have been told.

You might contact the Paint Department in Chino. 800-544-5033. I have heard good things about them, but have never used them.

I think there was a thread on here about those vent covers. Search the Alpine Coach forum and you can probably find a source. I think it some found them at a marine store.

Enjoy your purchase! And consider joining ACA and/or Alpine Socal. You will meet lots of fellow owners who can help you with questions like this.

These loovers on Ebay might be what you're looking for. The seller (RV-Trader) has several items claiiming to be for a WRV Alpiine Coach but I'd check dimensions on it before purchasing it.

Good luck!

I just polished the headlight covers on my coach. I first tried using the Meguiars polishing kit with no results. The covers were discolored and rough. I next wet sanded them with 400 grit sandpaper, then 800 and finally 1000. They were still cloudy. I then used the Meguiars polishing kit which cleared them up. If I did it again, I would use 400, 600, 800, and then 1000 grit paper. It took about 2 hours work.
