40ft MDTS Bedslide Issue

This is a new one for me so thought I'd share it with my fellow 40ft Alpine coach owners. We had the bedslide fail to open during our trip to the coast last weekend. Turned out the set screws [3/8"] that hold the bedslide cylinder in place [inside black tube] near the foot of the bed came loose. The root cause was a botched warranty repair made several years ago.

Two things to learn from this: 1] if you havent done it recently, it might be a good thing to check these set screws, and the hose connections under the bed to ensure there are no leaks.

2] It is possible to dismantle the bed frame and slide mechanism so the cylinder and hoses can be repaired, WITHOUT removing the slide from the coach. PM me for details.....

Also there is a large set screw attached to the rod in the center of the bedroom slide outside. If you look under the bedroom slide outside when open you will see the rod I am talking about.
Last year while in Reno visiting our son we got ready to leave the camp site, but the slide sounded like it was working, but did not retract. After inspecting everything else under the bed I went outside and noticed the rod was halfway in and the slide was still out. Fortunately I found the large set screw inside the well where the rod is found. I extended the rod as if extending the slide and put the set screw back.
I occasionally check that set screw now.
