I don't have a 7500 service manual but this is from my 12500 manual:

OVER FREQUENCY—CODE NO. 14
(After the starter was engaged Frequency jumped to more than 70 Hz
for 40 milliseconds or to more than 66 Hz for 6 seconds)
Corrective Action:
1. Check for a tripped genset circuit breaker, reset it if necessary, and run with fewer connected loads.
(A breaker tripping under load can cause genset frequency to overshoot.)
2. Check all fuel fittings for fuel and air leaks and tighten as necessary. Reprime. (Air bubbles can
disrupt frequency.)
3. Remove the governor actuator, test it for proper operation and replace if necessary (p. 9-5).
4. Check high-idle speed and readjust if necessary (p. 9-5).
5. Replace the control board (p. 11-1).
6. Service the internal engine governor mechanism (p. 9-1).

Do you have the Xantrex System Control Panel (SCP), it looks like the device at the top, in the center of this picture?

Press the "Enter" button until you get to the screen that shows "XAGS 00", highlight it and press enter. The bottom entry should be "Gen Mode" , make sure it is highlighted and press enter, then press the arrows until you see " [ManualOn]". Press "Enter" your generator should start after the appropriate warm up period, depending upon the outside temp this could be a 30+ seconds. The generator should continue to run until you change the entry to "[ManualOff]".

If you do not have the SCP (I think you said something about having a Onan panel, I do not think they play together nicely, take the coach back to who ever installed it and have them complete the installation so it will work.

7500 Onan diesel

The unit to the bottom left of the picture is the XAGS module, it is required with the Xantrex inverter to control the generator. If you have done all this then continue on the frequency troubleshooting suggested above by bruceisla.

You could also go back to the generator and look at the lights, carefully reading the blinks after it stops running.

There is a purge process for this gen if you run low on fuel - don't remember the sequence of button pushes but no need to keep re-starting to clear the fuel line.

By "purge process" do you mean holding the on/off switch in the off position to run the fuel pump and clear any trapped air???????

Yes, every time you start the generator, that is what it is doing until it turns over and starts. (holding "start")

Not quite--by holding the switch in the off position, you can hold it almost indefinitely to clear any/all trapped air without the genset trying to start then die with only a partially cleared feed line.

my xantrex is not like that one, it not low on fuel issue. it will start and die after about 5 seconds, it still gives code 14, i have turned off inverter, turned off generator breaker, turned off chassis breaker, still same thing, my inverter was bypassed when i got the coach, i bought a new inverter and installed it and is working good, tried to start generator a couple days after inverter replacement and it wont start,,,,,,

So 2 things, I would get the Xantrex System Control Panel (SCP) and the Xantrex Automatic Generator System (AGP). They are required to properly operate and the SCP will tell you what is going on. Second you need to get the generator to Cummins let them sort out what is going on, I assume the previous owner had the inverter bypassed for a reason.

like old scout says do the simple things first. i had the same problem with my 7500. spec H. it had 6200 hours on it.
i found one glo plug wasnt working. i dropped the gen out, replaced the glo plugs, belt, air filter, and fuel filter. hooked it up outside the coach, and it ran like a champ.
the glo plug number is NGK0453
air filter NAPA 9697
the fuel filter is NAPA 1064
the belt number is kubota 15881-97010
onan 511-0187
can be cross referenced by napa to 294SS-43 44 45
this belt was the hardest to find.
