Need to confirm compatibility issues [age thing vs size/btu] with your rear unit--your single t-stat controls both [think you have the 4-button T-stat vs the five]....you dont say where your are from but PPL in Houston does pretty good on price....
PS--is your unit just an A/C or is it a heat pump??????

OK--but still think you will have a t-stat comm compatibility issue....may need to order a replacement motherboard for the new unit to match the old--I suspect. PPL sales techs are a good place to call just to figure out the compatibility issue--you will need the serial number off the old unit....

About 4 years ago my 4-button thermostat gave up the ghost so replaced it with a five button. New electronics were required to get the new thermostat to converse with the air conditioners. Additionally, I've had to replace the front air conditioner, which IIRC came with the newer electronic board.

According to Dometic you can get a replacement that does not include the electronic board, you re-use the one out of the old unit. Contact Dometic tech, support and give them the model number of your current one and they can give you the upgrade unit number. This way you can continue to use a 4 button thermostat, although I understand you have the 5 anyway.
