ABS light on

I just had new tires installed today and noticed that the ABS light now stays on. Is there a reset??

What RV to you Make, Model, Year.

You might check your manual to see if there is a way to recover the fault codes. If you can it will help pin point the problem.

As Jim said it would help if we knew more about your RV.

Most likely when they changed the tires one of the ABS sending units got damaged or dirty. As long as the brakes are working ok you shouldn't have any problems until you can get it checked out.

If this happened coincident with the dismounting/mounting of tires and wheels, first suspect would be that they disturbed one of the wheel sensors.

Very easy to identify-- they need to be at almost zero clearance from the "fins" on the rotor. If one is pulled out or a wire broken, it would trigger the ABS light.

Sure, there are other causes, but if this happened when the wheels were removed and reinstalled, that is where I would start.

Go to the tech library and download the ABS manual, in the brakes and chassis section, it will give you the blink codes so you can tell which wheel is giving you the indication. I see you are new to the forum, welcome. Do a search for a posting for Newbies I did a few weeks ago, it will explain many of the ways to use the forum as an Alpine owner.

Please give me the short-course on how to induce the blinking error code process. Don't see any buttons on the ABS box, nor is there a light source--to my knowledge. Does the ABS light on the dash do the blinking--curious minds want to know?????

There is no reset. There is a very small black cable that goes into the back of backing plate. It could pushed out a little bit when they changed the tires. Even though they appear tight, push in toward backing plate to make sure there is contact with the fins on the rotor.

OS, there is a switch mounted on the passenger side bulkhead to induce the blink test. Results are indicated by the ABS light on the dash. Codes are 2 digit, 1 - 8 blinks each digit. 1 - 1 is all OK, other digits indicate some fault. Manual shows process and a table of results starting on page 10. Of course Meritor Wabco has a PC program, but not many folks have that so blink test is way to go. It is laborious and easy to count wrong but results repeat so it can be used.

Kraig, there is no reset of the system but there is a reset for the data/blink code. It will only work if the error is gone, otherwise it continues to blink error.

Wondering where the switch to induce ABS error code blinking is located for the pre-vansco Alpines. I have never seen it but have to admit I have never specifically looked for it either.

You need to tell us what year your coach is, either add it to your post or better yet, put it in your signature block, then I is always there.
