Has anyone replaced their oven with a Fisher Paykel Dishdrawer in a 40' FD? If so, where did you purchase dishwasher, who installed it, and any problems or recommendations?

We replaced the oven with a Fisher-Paykel dishwasher when our coach (06 36 MDDS) was brand new, in the summer of 2006, at the factory in Yakima. We also replaced the standard microwave with a GE Advantium microwave/convection/speedcook oven.
We had a dishwasher in our yacht before this motorhome, but it wasn't nearly as good as this Fisher-Paykel dishwasher.
We like this dishwasher a lot. We stay in our motorhome about 200 nights per year and run the dishwasher at least every other day, once we have it full. It is very quiet and uses very little water, (I think it's like 2.7 gallons per load)and does a good job cleaning dishes.
We like it so well we are planning to put a double-drawer Fisher Paykel in our new house, which we are planning to build this summer.
So, with the Advantium oven and the dishwasher, we think it's a much better arrangement than a conventional microwave, regular oven, and no dishwasher.
The dishwasher holds a lot of dishes for its size. The only key trick is learning how to lock the drawer (you have to hold one of the buttons down for about 6 beeps and wait to hear a "grrr" sound as it locks) to keep the drawer from flying open when you go around corners driving. We use a bungee cord as a backup.
The factory does a great job installing this option; I don't know where else one would get it done.

I installed one in my 05. I purchased the unit at Lowes. I installed it below the stove top.
We opted for the stainless steel front. This is a tough DIY job but doable. Finding the drain parts was the toughest part.

We had the Fisher-Paykel dishwasher installed at the factory about six months after we purchased the coach. My wife wouldn't be without it. WRV matched the cabinets with a cherrywood front. Great setup.

How much does the factory charge for the mod?
A few months back, Pancho at WRV thought he'd heard $1600, but recommended a call to Customer Service. Seems low.
Does the range (stove and oven) have to be replaced with a different cooktop only?

What was the model # that you purchased? Did the cabinet space holding the oven have to be modified to accept the DW or did it slide right in? What cook top did you go for? Fisher Paykel also has a cook offered, but don't know anything about it.

If memory serves me right the factory charged about $1600.00 for the complete install including the new Cherry front. We had to wait for the front to be shipped to us as the factory burned while we were there and the door front was part of the carnage.
We did not have the oven, only the standard cook top (Atwood). The factory removed the two drawers below the cook top and with just a bit of modification of the remaining cabinet the unit fit right in. We were able to keep the drawer below the washer. It did seem to take them quite some time to do the install (two or three guys all day)
The Fisher-Paykel model is DS6031

When we added the dishwasher at the factory, we also got the cherry front to match the rest of the cabinets. To offset the loss of oven, we replaced the Microwave with GE Advantium oven and after learning how to use speedcook, we find it does most of the things our regular oven did, only faster, as well as function as a microwave. It takes a little time to get used to it.
We have the standard Atwood 3 burner range top. It's all a neat installation and we're very happy with it.

Old Forester:
Is your cooktop a new one or the original? Since mine has the oven and cooktop, can the cooktop be taken apart from the stove and re-used?

Take Pride,
Ours is the orignal Atwood 3 burner. It was not part of the oven. We had drawers beneath the range top that were replaced with the dishwasher.

"Sounds like more money". Isn't that the mantra of a diesel pusher owner?
