Adding Awning Over Entry Door

We have an '05 40fdts. Has anyone added an awning, power or otherwise over the entry door? I have heard conflicting information that the sidewall will not support an awning there. Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Mike

I have a Carefree product over my entry that is manual and slides forward to stop the rain from entering when the door is open. I have a 2005 Fleetwood Revolution and the awning has been trouble free.
It is about 30 inches long and extends about 2 feet by use of a hand crank.
Hope this helps

Wrink- my 08 came w/an electric AE "awning" over the entry door. The electric for it runs thru the same box that contains the electric bundle going to the overhead (runs behind false back of the PS overhead cabinets over dining/recliner then thru a false top of the leetle cabinet over the door). Extend/Retract rocker switch is by front door catch next to main awning rocker switch. I assume that wire is fished thru the vertical frame tube that has the 110V outlet & wiring for other switches there.
To get coverage over the door, there is a piece of trim from front cap that is interrupted on mine. Not an impossible caulk job, but it takes some effort to make it work properly.

Several owners have had awnings installed over the door on the FD models. Different model years have been mentioned on various comments I've seen. In other words, the side wall is strong enough to support the awning. BTW, Uhlmann's installed mine and did a good job. DIY'ers have reported it not to be too dificult, esp. the manual model.
