Well it sounds like you have the Freedom 458 Inverter.
Is your remote panel the same as this one?
Power Accessories | Automatic Generator Start | Xantrex
If so, there is a link on that web page to download the Owners Manual which will give you all the instructions on how to program for AGS.
Here's the link.

Thank you. This is the correct manual for my controller and inverter. I have been setting it up as described. I was told to try a reset so I removed the panel and unplugged it for some time. Still nothing. I may just have to replace the controller and test a new one. I did get the AC to start after I started the generator manually. So I set the AGS on cool and it would not come on again automatically.

You can aim a hair dryer at the thermostat to make it think it is much warmer than it is.

You may have to do a "cold" boot on the inverter and remote panel.

The AGS is not connected to the inverter and/or its remote panel (SCP). Rebooting it would have no direct effect on the AGS.
The AGS and its remote panel (RC50) can be "cold reset" by disconnecting the large connector on the AGS Controller for 30 - seconds and then reconnecting it. Same Xantrex recommended procedure I mentioned in a previous post.

Hey everyone, it works. I called the manufacture and the tech explained where voltage was suppose to be on the connector to the controller. I tested the voltage and it had correct power so I plugged it back in and it worked. The tech told me the controller does not normally burn out. I am thinking by unplugging the terminal and resetting or just getting a better connection made it work.
Thank you to everyone. I will be smarter next time.

First the battery's are drained at 12.0 volts, and if you check, the normal voltage would be in the 12.7 range. If Lead - acid type the specific gravity range is as follows: 1.260 SG; 12.7 volts (approx.) 100% charged (temperature dependent) and 1.120 SG 12.0 V, discharged. I have the AGS enabled and it's set to 12.3 volts on the low end and 12.8V on the charged end. It has worked for me, but I have AGM batteries and they are more sensitive.
