AIR compressor on my coach will not run. I have a 2005 Alpine Coach 40 foot. When I was setting up their Alpine on its jacks. I heard a rush of air. I went to refill the airbags and the compressor would not start. Is there a break, are some switch that controls that air compressor
I am not sure how to cancel this request for help, but I had resolved the problem. Somebody repaired it and use it in proper fitting. They used a copper pipe compression fitting for a polyethylene which was not DOT approved. Thanks for all of your interests and help in trying to resolve this. One thing I have learned their air compressors on these are not like the ones on trucks. They are not as large and don't make the same amount of noise and don't put out the same amount of air so that was the reason I was unable to hear it working

We need more information to help you. When using the auto leveling system the air is always dumped first, then the jacks are set. How and why are you trying to trying to refill the airbags? When you start the engine the air will automatically refill.

yes I know the air automatically dumps when I originally set up. But when I retracted Jack's. Started the engine the pressure would not fill the airbags and let me released the emergency brake or should I say parking brake I was listening for the air compressor to kick on, but it never came ON as an ex-truck driver. I am quite familiar with air brakes and such. I have never seen an air compressor that is controlled by any type of a switch But with the motor home. It is so advanced and controlled by a computer, I thought maybe they would be something that I have missed that he compressor is not running when the engine is running. Otherwise I would hear air escaping if there is a leak or something. Is there something like a switch that controls a air-conditioner. That is magnetized at will turn it on and off?

I also have a 2005. I have had problems with the HWH leveling system, the connector came off the back of the control panel, one of the wires was too short, pulled the connector off when I opened the drawer. Check to see if yours has come off. I am not sure if it will cause your problem, but it is easy to check.

There is no electromagnetic clutch on the compressor. It drives constantly but there is an air goivernor that unloads it when the pressure is up.

All of the air output from the compressor goes through the air dryer on the way to the primary (wet) air tank. The dryer is set to "spit" any moisture out whenever the air governor kicks out. Inside the dryer is also a turbo protection valve. Mine failed on my 2004 Bus/Freightliner and the air would not come up. The dryer needed to be replaced.

Assuming the dryer works fine, the next place I'd look would be the HWH wiring. There is a dump-fill shuttle valve on your coach. This valve is electrically controlled and when you lower the jacks and dump the bags a 12 volt pulse sends the valve to one side so that the air bags can drain. When you hit the "store" button on thr HWH panel, it sends a 12 volt pulse to the valve to send it the other direction so that the air bags can get filled. It's quite possible that a wire came off the HWH wiring harness and it's not sending the signal to shuttle the valve to the "fill" position. That also happened on my 2004. It turned out that a wire pulled out of the connector block in the harness in the driver's side console. Once the wire was reinserted into the connector everything worked fine. However, when this happens you air gauges will show air pressure. It's just that the valve isn't opening to send it to the air bags. If you aren't seeing any air pressure then I'd look at the air dryer or a defective air governor that isn't allowing the air to build up.
