The last time I was on the roof, I noticed a couple of areas where it appears the rubber roof has an air pocket underneath it. I contacted a repair facility, and they told me that as long as roof is intact, not to worry about it. He told me the cost of replacing my rubber roof would be over ten grand. Is there a repair for the roof areas that have air underneath?

Alpines have a fiberglass roof, not a rubber roof -- major repair costs are probably substantial for either though I'd think you could repair minor areas of concern on either roof--not an entire replacement. Some Alpiners have seen/are seeing air "bubbles" on their roofs but as long as the roof stays intact [ie, not leaks]--dont think I would worry about it....

If you think the bubbles are big enough to flutter in the passing air stream, then repairing the roof makes sense. To repair, get appropriate adhesive for EDPM rubber roof. Slice the bubble in the middle only long enough to insert adhesive, then use a rubber roller to distribute and bond adhesive to both roof and underside of membrane. Use Dicor self leveling caulk to seal the slice and you'll be good.

Edit: Old Scout says it's fiberglass, not EDPM. Ignore my EDPM repair. Fiberglass is a much different material, as OS said, if it's not leaking, leave it alone.

Buy a roll of eternabond roof repair tape and have it just in case. If its not torn or cracked just keep an eye on it. If it is actually a fiberglass roof spot repairs are certainly in the realm.

It is a fiberglass roof, unless somebody coated it for some unknown reason. But I second the Eternabond tape as an emergency repair if necessary. Good stuff.
