Supposedly halogen elements use less wattage than equivalent coil/ribbon elements. It is just a "lightbulb" in there rather than a resistive coil. We were still off the grid using a generator when we installed our Creda stovetop and double oven (broiler/convection)so current draw was a major concern. [convection ovens also draw much less juice than a conventional oven].
