Mud Flap of Original Design
After doing some research, I located a company in Union Gap, WA, that made one of the original designs you may have seen on some of the Alpines out there. It would seem this design was also made by more than one company, and was available from the early 2000's or a bit earlier.
Apparently, possibly the first company to make the
script written Alpine Coach mud flap, with accompanying WRV's symbols on each end, was
Riverside Enterprises in Kennewick, WA. I am not sure when they stopped, but in speaking with an employee today at that company, they no longer make the mud flap, and are not in that business anymore, because "WRV starting making their own." As far as I can tell, that happened around 2004-05.
But not to worry,
I found that company! They are located very near the Mother Ship, in Union Gap, WA. The company's name is
Magic Metals, Inc.
I spoke with
Rick Onustock, or Rick O, as he is called, and indeed, they were the ones WRV requested to make the ongoing Alpine Coach (scripted) mud flaps (which I gather, caused Riverside Enterprises to stop making theirs--I don't know if Alpine hired them in the first place or not). Rick O sent me what I gather to be the original drawing of the laser mock up of it!
It is exactly like the ones I have seen, that I am being told, are the "original design." So, if there is anyone out there wishing to have one made, now is your chance. No money to me on this, just wanted to contribute an updated bit of information to the forum. Note that they will also make any other name, design for you, as well.
I am going to order one. The good thing is they have that orginal pattern, asked by WRV to make, but it sounds like they can only do one at a time, or so Rick tells me. The price is $242, plus shipping. Rick's number is
509-463-1690, or you can email him at
ricko@magicmetals.com . After this posting, I don't know if there will be flocks of calls to them, but I am glad I could help in this search.
