Are your battery cables swelling?

I think I have about $15.00 of copper to recycle.

WOW--can you say acid build-up? Part of why I removed and left off the battery cover early on so I can wash down the bats with a garden hose [full pressure] every time I wash the coach [out of sight; out of mind]. Also add 1-2 oz of mineral oil to tops of bat cells after 2nd or 3rd year of use.

Another option is to go with AGM batteries.

No outgassing unless EXTREME overcharging and no acid leaks.

Started using Lifeline batteries on our sail boat where they were located in the main cabin-- not a place for this kind of problem!

Agree, I replaced my batteries about six years ago and added mineral oil at that time. I removed the tray to clean and paint it at the time and have not washed my battery tray since. I smear a dab of grease on each terminal after assembly.

Photos were usless to me so I can not see what is happening.

True story:
I have an ENGEL 12/120 volt freezer/fridge (one or the other not both) here, on 12 V it draws a great whomping 3 amps running, so I run it on 12 volt almost all the time.. IT quit.

Investigation found.. 12 volts not there

So I hooked up the 120 volt cord (Common computer cord) and ran it will I grabbed my meter and test light and found the tribble.. Had one wire, 10ga, runs from the battery to a power distribution panel.. Good solid 12 volt bright light at one end, 11 volt no load no light (load) on the other end... One solid length of wire,, No breaks, No junctions, No fuses or circuit breakers (I tested at the "Wire" end of the fuse)

So I inspected the wire.. It had a "Pregnancy" (Big bulge) Sliced it open, Copper oxcide... IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RUN (Well, a foot from the end).

Excised, back to clean copper, spliced and sealed well, no problems since

I can't help it, but upon seeing the header on your post; "Are your battery cables swelling?" I just want to add "On the bedpost overnight!"
