We have A&E awnings which are covered with metal when rolled up. Is an awning lock necessary (to prevent unfurling) with these awnings?

I hope not, since I don't have any! I have had my window awnings for over a year without any problems. I have heard rumors that some other brands of awnings have had problems. Haven't heard about the A&E awnings having the problem.

We have had our patio awning unfurl 3 times . All in very high winds. It is a real mess, you have to roll the awning all the way out. Great fun in 40 mph plus winds. Took Patty right off her feet in Utah .

We purchased an awning lock from RV Upgrades, and have had no problems since . Our rig is a 2000 and I understand there is a lock upgrade from A&E. With the additional lock, I just haven't gotten a-round-tuit. We are out almost every weekend

Gary,
occasionally you see someone at the side of the road with their awning over the top of their motorhome. I had always attributed this to them forgetting to clip in their arms. About two years ago traveling south on 395 in California in 40 mile an hour side winds an 18 wheeler went by me and suddenly I found my awning over the top of my motorhome. The arms were "clicked in" so anything is possible. I have had awnings on my motorhomes since 1984 and that was the first time I had ever had a problem.
